How do those tires swim? I've been thinking about buying those tires for my 2015 Argo 750HDi 8x8.

Thinking of buying either a Max Iv or an Argo. What is your take on durability, ease of maintenance, etc?
@zacksrandomprojects96984 жыл бұрын
That Max is pretty quick! I dont own a 6x6 but I was expecting them to be a little slower. I am wanting to get one and have been researching them and came across your video. Pretty cool!
@alcopower57104 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’ve been researching amphibs as well and really tossed up between an Argo and a Max iv.
@zacksrandomprojects96984 жыл бұрын
@@alcopower5710 One thing I like about the Max is they have the T20 transmission, which I have learned can be modified to make it a zero turn machine instead of a skid steer machine. You can modify the forward/reverse levers on the transmission to make the wheels/tracks on one side go forward while the other side goes backwards. The mod seems simple to do. I am kinda leaning towards a Max 2 or 4 for this reason. Who knows though. I also like the Argo Bigfoot series too. Lol

How fast is your Max IV? I'm doing a complete frame out restoration on my 97 MAX IV but it wasn'tvery fast at all before I started the rebuild. I was lucky if it would do 10-12mph. It's getting a new clutch and belt for the T20 as well as all new bearings and Im upgrading the rear axles with slinded axles and gears. Mine has a 20hp Kohler Command that ill be replacing the the coils on and giving it a new carburetor also. I keep reading and seeing that the Max IV should do around 25-27mph flat out but again mine wouldn't do more than 10mph. What else do I need to do to get my speed back up? I was also looking at going with solid engine mounts because the rubber mounts the engine stand sits on now flexes so much that I could see the engine dip down on the clutch side. Also my belt was so loose that if I squeezed the belt together in-between the two clutchs I could nearly get the belt to touch. Too loose I'm guessing? Any advice to get my max back up to speed would be helpful. Thanks

Josh, you might want to contact Matt Oxender who owns Mudd-Ox in Shipshewana Indiana. I traded this Trailblazer to him a while back. I know he does a lot with the vintage amphibious 6 wheelers and has sort of a museum for them along with his manufacturing of the Mudd-Ox and Max. He also has a KZbin channel called Mudd-Ox racing. He would know the value and have the ability to repair one. Thanks for the interest, Keith.

I just found one of these in the weeds on the property I just bought. I don't know if it is restorable or not. looking for more info on it and if anyone would be interested in restoring it and how much it would cost.

You will probably need to get a gear of the same pitch and tooth count from MSC or TSC. Most often the original gears were just slightly modified implement gears.

If you could only have one set for all around (ie. Gravel, dirt, big rocks, and mud) 6 wheelin', would you choose these Vendettas or the Adair tracks?

How quiet can it be made to run?
@MrKghills10 жыл бұрын
A Max IV with a stock exhaust isn't too awfully noisy. There should be lots of videos of Max IVs with stock exhausts floating around.

I will be looking to get one soon I had called the place and then went to the hospital and my phone cleared my info I had. I think he said it came with a 29 hp also. I was wondering the power to weight ratio on them but never got that far into it. It is a big investment for me and I want to get it right the first time.

The tires in this video are 26x14-12 at 3psi. They are fast swimmers. I now have a set of 16 inch wide Vendettas on the machine. They seem better in the mud but swim slightly slower.

Keith your Hustler 980 looks just AWESOME with the 26x14x12 Vendetta tires and Adair tracks!

I was hoping people would see how a deep lug tire is also intended to work as compared to the Low Lug High Flotation Vendettas. Deep lugs are great if you have the horsepower to turn them so they clean and grab more earth. However A deep lug will dig down just as fast when you loose momentum. That's why I included the Truck. It's like a textbook example. The amazing thing about the Vendettas is even when balled up with mud they seem to propel you forward or backwards if you slow down enough to let them do the work.
@amphibdriver111 жыл бұрын
This is an excellent video showing how the 26x14 inch , Vendetta tires are still able to gain traction when you use very little throttle. Thanks for posting this video Keith
