Meiner Meinung nach trifft das Aufeinandertreffen dieser konträren Stile nicht immer den Geschmack aller Zuhörer. Die komplexen Harmonien, die Honegger einsetzt, verlangen zweifellos beeindruckende Leistungen von den Interpreten, können jedoch polarisieren. Oft zeigt sich, dass weniger mehr ist, und je komplizierter die musikalischen Verknüpfungen sind, desto umstrittener wirken die daraus resultierenden Klänge. Honeggers Werk ist ein Paradebeispiel dafür, wie anspruchsvolle Strukturen einerseits künstlerische Tiefe verleihen, andererseits jedoch auch die Rezeption erschweren.

First heard this 54 years ago in 1970 in a innovative, pre-computer , multi 35mm , multi media , production for New Zealand's pavilion at the Osaka World Expo. Beautiful, beautiful Sibelius...the suites and the glorious symphonies. The closing section of the first movement of the third symphony fills me with joy and wonder every time. Love to all from Australia 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘❤❤❤

Andante festivo makes me want to cry my heart out ,its almost too poignant and beautiful for words. Bless you Jean Sibelius and Bless God for letting him exist and writing treasures .

I played viola with the Bayer Philharmoniker for two delightful years while I was studying & teaching math at the University of Cologne (1974-76), before I moved to Frankfurt to work for Chase. It is exciting to find a recording of them tonight that was made just 4 years later under the same director, Rainer Koch.
