Hi, On my 1970 nova all the channels are new bare metal. Should I leave it bare before painting the whole car for you to prime or you want the car painted 1st then you sand and prime/install? Thanks john

I have put a wrench to every last bolt on my car... and today learned something new. That dam strip comes in different thicknesses? Old gm assembly manuals list part numbers, but usually no specs.

I know this is 2021 but I have a question. When my 67 Chevelle was being torn down it had a rubber gasket around the windshield. Can anyone tell me what that was all about? It started out as a base 283 air car.It has been in paint jail for 3 years. So this video is a breath of fresh air...I ordered the urethane dam kit already so I was on the right track..Thank so much!!!!

You can find all of the products needed to set your glass as GM did back in the day at our website www.rustreplace.com. Urethane is the sealant used today with the dam . In the 1960's- through mid 1970's GM used a Polysulfide sealant manufactured by the Thiokol Corporation. While Polysulfides are still available, GM switched to Urethane technology beginning in the mid 1970's and they are still used today. This is why Urethane is used here - it is a better product. GM did not use Butyl to set the fixed glass (windshield/rear window). The reason? Simple, the tensile strength of Butyl rubber is not great enough to have met the testing criteria of the era. You can see more about glass setting and the products/pricing on our website in the "Tech/Install Tips" section.

Hi, I live in Los Angeles Co. Sylmar, California. I own a 1970 Chevy Impala Custom and These glass shop in the San Fernando Valley want to brake the glass and replace it with their glass for a higher price. What you just did is actually the correct way to install a window shield. These guys charge between $150 to $500 to do the job. With no warrantee. I wished you were in California so I could drive to your shop and have you do my front windshield and the back windows. Sincerely Rey Zapata, Sylmar,California. 😎🙏🏽😇👍🏽

I have sent an email, but apparently, according to other posts here, I will not get a reply from Jeff regarding the Dam for the windshield. I have been scouring the web looking for it but everything is the sticky 3M ribbon that doesn't seat the windshield depth properly. I need help!
