Yes and No. EuControl, the software that communicates between your DAW and the S3, should continue to work even into future releases of EuControl. The only thing that will likely cease are firmware updates for the S3 which haven't really happened in a long time anyway. I'll say this. If you don't already have an S3. After using S1s for a while now I don't miss the S3, well maybe the build quality... 🤷‍♂️

Hi Jozef. Thanks for checking out my video. You can definitely still create layouts using just EuControl on the "Assign" tab. Remember, layouts are tied to sessions. So creating a layout in one session will not carry over to a different session. However, you can import and export layouts in EuControl on the "Layouts" tab. That might accomplish what you're looking for. Try exporting your layouts from a working session and then import them into a different session. The track names will need to match though. Let me know how it goes.

Awesome. Glad I could help out! You may want to look into folder tracks. Having started with layouts, I feel folder tracks are a little bit more flexible and require less upkeep than layouts (just move tracks in and out, ECT). I've converted all my Busses to routing folders. I saved my folder structure as a track template. Recalling the track template restores ALL of my folders. Just something to tinker with in your free time. 🙂

Hey. Thanks for watching. This is a common issue and most likely nothing you did wrong. Open a brand new session and open EuControl and check the layouts tab. If there are no layouts, (expected) its likely just the button labels that are stuck. In Eucontrol, clear out the S1 button softkey assignments and reprogram them for layouts. Hopefully that will do the trick.

Hey. There are a couple of different ways. If your main router/switch has open ports you can just plug the S1 into an open port. The S1 a network device so, like any other network device, it just needs to be connected to the same physical network as your computer. If your Mac has multiple Ethernet ports I'd recommend a small 5 port switch and connect both the Mac and the S1 to a separate switch on the second Ethernet port. This will keep the EUCON traffic separate. Hope that helps.

Ah, ok. I just thought of another way. You can use an Ethernet to USB adapter and plug straight into the Mac. That's probably the easiest way for you.

The S3 is great hardware for sure. I've switched over to using 2 S1s and Dock and I have to say I'll never look back. Having a couple of Amazon FireHDs or iPads as a meter bridge is really nice too. I also prefer the function buttons on the S1 compared to the S3, for instance the DYN function on the first layer without having to hold down shift. I honestly never used the 2 rows of encoders on the S3 so I don't miss that at all. 2 S1s are also a smaller footprint on my desk. Conversely, if I wanted to add another S1 I could technically add another 2. Unfortunately, the S3 can't be combined with other fader surfaces except the Dock. If they can overcome that, that would be a game changer. :) Thanks for watching and sharing your view.

Absolutely, you can use Avid Control to just control Pro Tools. You do not need a control surface! 👍

Hey! Well, for the S1 the 12.9 should be fine. There is no horizontal restriction just keep in mind that the S1 unit is 12.25" wide, so if you are planning on adding more in the future the 12.9" iPad will hang over the sides. multiple S1 units with 12.9" iPads may be a bit awkward. As for the Dock, up to 10" iPads will fit horizontally. I use mine in portrait, however.

Thanks Paul! Hope all is well. Yeah, the P3 is awesome. I did not use the low light mode. Most was straight 4k/30 at 60 shutter speed, ISO 50-1600. The slowmo stuff was shot on slowmo mode (120). I set a manual white balance of 3200 for the indoor stuff and 5500 for the outdoor stuff. It was shot in d-log and processed in Premiere.

Hi Pierre, thanks for watching. I know what you're looking for but layouts are for the control surface only. I'm not sure about Nuendo, but in PT there is a way of grouping tracks, then you can show/hide the tracks on the screen based on the group. PT also has folder tracks, which can be collapsed and opened to show/hide it's member tracks on the screen. I hope maybe these concepts can help you in Nuendo.

@@antslivesound Thanks for your reply. I arrange some macros in my Metagrid Pro app. Now I am able to show/ hide track types and f.e. Drum tracks, Drums with Bass etc. And it works now in arrange window of Nuendo and with my S3s. Avid Control sw does not working this way.

Cool!, There may be a way to make Avid Control show hide the tracks too. Check the EuControl preferences.

Ooooh, just basically answered my question in a way - assigning a VCA only layout to then spill out the tracks. Great.

Hey, thanks for checking out my video. So when you're in MOV / SEL It will not scrub the audio like it will when you're in Jog. As far as fast fwd and rewind. In Preferences>Operation try enabling the "audio during fast forward/rewind" option. That might do it but it may make the fwd and rewind a little wonky. As far as seeming "smoother" in MOV/SEL, I think it may have to do with the grid divisions. I generally keep my grid on 1/8 which would make my play head movements appear "smoother". -hope that helps... Let me know

Hmm, ok... So you're saying the devices are not showing up in EuControl? Are you using a Mac or PC? Is the computer running EuControl wirelessly connected to your router the same as the devices, or is it wired with a physical cable? Make sure that the wireless devices are getting an IP Address that is on the same network as the computer running EuControl. Sometimes routers will give out IP addresses that are on a slightly different network than the wired devices.

Alrighty. First things first... Is the computer running EuControl directly wired to your router/switch with a network cable?

@@antslivesound Yes, that computer is direct ethernet connected, the devices are all on wireless network from the same router.

Ok, good. Are the devices getting an IP address that is on the same network as the counter? Sometimes routers will give out a different IP range to the wireless network. If the computer and wireless devices are on different networks that can be an issue. Also try disabling any firewall on the computer (to test)
