Easy as... 30 minute job. Remove the chimney, remove the boiler door, remove the exhaust tube and just trim down to a length where the chuffer does not protrude from the top of the chimney. Hint: paint it with hi-temp black first, before it gets oily. summerlands-chuffer.uk/fitting-notes/

Here in WA, these beautiful and clever spiders spin nests (nets?) over a meter in diameter. They look spectacular early in the day with dew all over them and golden sunlight behind! 😊 But, if you accidentally walk thru one it feels like you have been trussed up in a net. The strands are very very strong.😮 On top of that they are a beautiful little critter.

Does each boiler have it's own safety valve? Very good work and great layout. I think it did well on denatured alcohol.

Lovely! But how about taking the exhaust steam up the chimney?
@ozziebob08
@ozziebob08 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your positive feedback. Exhaust ports do go up the chimney. It’s a feature of the Mamod TE 1A. The other chimney you see takes the heat away from the firebox and prevents the wooden canopy from burning.

Hey, i love it! AND i do have every part to build it ! One TE1A bargain grab here in France (TE1A i was thinking to transform in a small Locomobile only by reversing the engine position on the boiler, and modifying the existing funnel for a long tall folding one...)(by discovering your videos yesterday i'm pretty sure this is the kind of modification you'd love to do on your other TE1, the one in the barn!) I do also have a bunch of old Meccano brass gears, Kapla wood, my Lathe and milling machine to turn or mill any part needed. Well i was just missing the idea i guess and suddenly, your Bush loco appears in front of my eyes. And this is exactly the kind of train set up i'd love to build over the years, i do also have the perfect spot in my garden! Well, no excuse now (ok, just a small one: I'm not retired ...) May i ask you 3 questions ? What is the brand of your G scale/45 mm tracks? and how do you manage to keep your tracks with no rust (Aluminium ? Stainless steel? outdoor varnish ?) and where do you find the trains wheels/bogey? Thanks in advance. Patrice, (Steam engine/ Steam toys huge fan for 23 years now... (Mostly Nurnberg era/Märklin/Doll/Bing... or Radiguet, Stuart Turner and Bowman Jenkins)(Also steam trains and steam traction engines and steamboats scaled and full size)

G'day nice to eMeet you. A lot of people have asked me how I built the Bush Loco #1 so I included some build video on the Bush Loco#2 Twin Boiler. ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJvMknaYZ9mgaLs ) Yer Im not retired yet either but I have a lovely wife who indulges my passion for steam and understands my need to tinker in the shed 🙂 I have a mix of track, mostly LGB, with some American and Aristocraft. All purchased on ebay (international and local) and some other local AusRail made here in Oz. All tracks are brass so don't rust but weather nicely. I did have live track but it was a devil to keep clean so went live steam and battery powered. I have bought absolutely everything online over about 15 years... track, wagons, engines, wheels, including the stationary engines I restore. The Regner lumberjack I bought from France! (Best price and postage on the planet! www.atelier-vaporiste.com/) Ive also been 3D printing parts and wagon trucks recently. I have Tinkercad and Thingiverse channel where I share some of my designs. Cheers Rob

Hi There. Have a look at some meccano websites. www.nzmeccano.com/Parts.php My latest twin boiler bush loco shows the drive train better on the video. On bush loco 1 I used chain sprockets for the drive from the engine to the gearbox and spur gears in the gearbox. With final power transfer using a small to large sprocket to the drive wheels. HTH

How steep is your grade? Lovely loco. If I can ever afford r/c live steam I’ll get a geared one!
@ozziebob08
@ozziebob08 Жыл бұрын
HI. Its pretty crazy steep. The other video ("... Makes the grade") has the details but from memory its something like 12%. I actually no longer use the steep grade after the refurbishment of the track. The loco gets hidden behind the tress once past the trestle bridge so for half the journey its out of view, which IMO, its a waste of steam time. Im planning an alternative route lower down the slope at the base of the retaining walls where the rock meets the soil... but that requires major rock work... and its also getting tricky to work on as I get a bit older. To be continued.

Not entirely sure it's supposed to do that, but my only experience is with American railroad lanterns so far. I do have an British Railways lamp with a similar burner, but its waiting on me to restore it so it can be operable again. Given that it's a railway lamp, it might flare like that to stop it going out in a gust of wind or the slipstream of a train. Only thing I know when it comes to parrafin lamps that flash are lighthouse beacons, but it was the Fresnel lenses spinning around the burner that made the flashing effect and magnified the light into a powerful beam, the burner itself stayed at a steady brightness.
@ozziebob08

Thanks for your comment. I reckon its definitely meant to flash because even when I wind up the wick, it still tries to flash. Just to a lesser extent.

what fuels do you use for a steam train
