I just bought all the seasons of Supernatural and most of the seasons of South Park on blu-ray, and plan on getting the movie’s Collateral, The Core, and Speed on 4K blu-ray :)

Since learning about Best Buy’s blasphemy, I am currently going on a blu ray collecting spree in case physical media goes bye bye across the board someday. Physical media will always be vastly superior to streaming

I have Cinemark Movie Club but this video is getting me to look at the other two options to possibly make a switch. As a male I'm not interested in the beauty and makeup part of the channel but my question is, is this channel headed toward more movies, physical media or a movie review channel ? If so I'm in for the long haul. Thank you

I never EVER thought I'd say this, but I'm buying fewer and fewer discs all the time now. I have a HUGE collection of 4K, blu-rays and even a bunch of DVD's still on the shelf but if they don't start dropping the prices on movies, I'll be out soon. Why on earth does it cost on average over 30 bucks for any movie today. Large studio or small, that's what it costs and I'm sick of it. The studios are pushing this collector to streaming more and more.

I still mainly buy dvds lol. My mate has tons of blu rays but sometimes depending on the film I think blu ray looks so clean and clear it actually shows up some of the old special effects in old films so I rather watch dvd. If I want to watch something like Avatar though then its blu ray all the way. Still regularly buy dvds and occasionally blu ray.

I feel exactly the same, Blu-rays are okay I have many of them but I came rather late to that format whereas I have way more DVDs going from back when it began in the late '90s (still no 4Ks for me). I feel it's the best of all possible worlds this way as DVDs will look pretty damn fine on a good upscaling Blu-ray player, say a Panasonic that upscales to 'HD'. I seriously love the look my old DVDs have this way, it's much better detailed picture than a standard DVD player therefore it's an ideal combination for me.

@@LarryFleetwood8675 maaaan Im dumb. Is that why my dvds look great on my 4k tv playing from my ps5? Is that an upscaling technique? I just assumed ''huh, dvds really are aging well eh? still look good to me'' lol

California now forced companies that sell you digital media, state that you are only buying a license to view/listen to that content. If you lose it, and want to download again, you're out of luck. Keep buying CDs and Blu-ray's. Also realize that the whole time you're still getting ripped off by paying the same amount you used to pay for physical media for a "license" of it.

It’s never stopped but it has slowed down for me. It’s just harder to buy physical media on the fly. Most of the stuff I get is online. Recently, I did try to make it to the Criterion Closet in NYC but those lines were way too long. Although it is interesting seeing people willing to wait 6-7 hours just to buy 3 movies max.

@@NeelouGoodarzi haha that's true, but definitely would rather it end than drag on for useless storylines, especially with the major passing. Yeh i was rooting for Kendall aswell, it felt like a triumphant ending but it may have been too expected of an ending, thus i think the ending fit well tbh. The chaos of the family wins out. Essentially Logan wins lol. Side note, glad you getting into physical media, huge collector myself and i dont regret it despite its often hardwork behind it. Well worth it.

You are beautiful. I own a Panasonic bluray disc player. My favourite movies are on bluray disc. Bluray disc is the SWEET SPOT. Affordable price for HD AUDIO LOSSLESS and HD picture at 1080p that my Samsung 4K upscales very well. I don't buy random movies. Just my favourites. Everything else you want to watch that you don't know, just rent it digitally if it's not a streaming platform.

@@patrickwilliams1801 4k discs are really neccesarily when a TV size gets bigger than 55 inches. Based on my apartment living room size anything bigger than 55 inches is too big for the space. Full HD and UHD at certain size TVs are not easy to detect with the naked eyes from a certain distance. Minimal difference especially when a quality brand TV can upscale well. 4K bluray discs are too expensive, their players are way more expensive than standard bluray players as well.

It's been slowly coming back because people are getting fed up of the lies of the streaming industry gave, and the lies when they pushed people to buy digital movies. Redbox is a huge example to where people bought a lot of digital movies, and then it's all gone. Also, all the companies wanted to spin off of Netflix even though they put their stuff on there, so we have many streaming services with monthly price hikes. The quality was never as good on streaming, and we were promised it would be eventually. They move shows and movies around from streaming service to streaming service, so if you're in the mood for watch one thing, you have to sign up for that one service. They remove things constantly, never put them back at times, or just never put some things on them. The original Rocky and Bullwinkle, you'll never find on streaming as an example. It's all promoted to the new crap. They're constantly cancelling good shows, or take years to bring out a new season. Season 1 of Squid Game came out on 2021. Season. 2, not until Dec 26 of this year. Over 3 years. That's just too long. Santa Clarita Diet, cancelled. Streaming is just too aggravating anymore.

I got back into bluray because of the video / audio quality (as well as the extras) and also 99% of the films I enjoy are just not readily available on any of the streaming platforms (perhaps in some obscure corner of Amazon prime) so I can now watch a lot of my favourite 60s and 70s films and TV shows. I must admit blurays does mean I intend to go off into things such as Giallo or Hammer or Tigon films etc so can be expensive. It can get a little out of hand. Some of the packaging is pretty hopeless for blurays, the disks often are impossible to move or they fall out too easily. I agree, they could make them even more visually impressive. I like the 4Ks coming with blurays as well, always great as a backup

Free 4K upgrades and the quality is actually quite good. I have not lost anything I have bought directly through them.
