thank you and happy you’re checking out the extended versions! 🙏 i like to keep things short on IG, but sometimes you miss out on the best parts. that’s funny - i do use implied chord suspensions a lot! it’s a little tricky to get any suspension to resolution with the limited options for pitch CV modulation, but it’s a lot of fun trying 😀 i’ve got two v2s and i think even if v3 was available when I bought both of mine, i still would have chosen the v2. that said, i would love to own them all at some point :)

why does this sound so much better than Plumbutter?
@innersonicsoundsystem
@innersonicsoundsystem 4 ай бұрын
i think what you’re getting at is the fact that the DK locks into a grid and has defined/snappy envelopes. i like them for different things. as much fun as i’m having patching the DK by itself, i’ll eventually hit a wall and run out of ideas or ways to manipulate the sound. the modulations are a bit limited. i think the DK is a blast and everyone should have one, but you’ll want more. i wish Lorre Mill had more instruments in their family like CL does. i love adding the DK to everything, but it can’t be my everything :)
@NealCaen

@@innersonicsoundsystem Are you implying that Plumbutter is superior in the aspect of how much deeper it is sonically?

@@NealCaen sort of… since PB is way more than 2 oscillators with shift registers, there are more colors to choose from and you can do more with them, however, the PB cannot do or sound like the DK. i think it’s really a matter of taste and budget.

happy you liked it - thanks! i’d like to get a v3 at some point, but there are a few features of the v2 that I would miss for sure. PB2 is my favorite synth that i own, hands down. i could spend a lot of time patching the PB and never get bored. it’s a much more versatile and robust (and more expensive) machine than the DK, but neither of them can do what the other does. the DK is a blast to patch! it’s a great Buchla buddy and it can even be clocked by Eurorack modules. feel free to hit me up on IG, if you want to talk further 😀

@innersonicsoundsystem
@innersonicsoundsystem 4 ай бұрын
it depends on what you’re interested in doing. i use mine as a massive modulation board and more importantly, a way to sync all of my CL instruments together. at a certain point, i felt like i was running out of rolls, especially if you’re trying to interlock them all together and get glitchy type grooves out of them. if you like the noisier/avant garde side of CL, Rolzer is invaluable. i feel like i will be even more pro-Rolzer once i work my way through the new PB + Rolzer manual, but in the past i sometimes have thought i would rather have 2 PBs since they’re not that different in price.

i love this man, how difficult would you say learning CL gear can be? making music with CL gear is a bit of a conversation. there are tools you have to influence where the conversation goes, but you can’t completely control it. i don’t think it’s that hard to learn, but there’s years of discovery available to you. i’d consider PB, Coco, and Deerhorn or Sidrax or Rolzer. Peterlin isn’t really part of the family. it’s a fun tool, but it’s Peter’s take on someone else’s instrument. if you’re immersing yourself in the CL experience, i’d skip the Peterlin for now.
