Nice 10,000 mile review. Many positive points I agree ( 2016 Club soft top over 31,000 miles ). I daily this car in 4 season weather & have a 2nd set of wheels / tires for winter that stay on a dolly in the garage during the warmer months. Ventilated seats ? I get it but the AC really does a good job just turn those dials & swivel the position off your hands. Radar controlled cruise control ? Increases the cost of the car & I have never used the regular cruise control even on long trips because I'm enjoying being on the highway. Modern conveniences we got Apple Carplay & Android Auto. Mazda makes a kit at the dealer or if your handy DIY to add it. I have always used Premium gas too but its hard to get over 27 mpg with the way I drive. Drone on the highway ? I removed the sound tube & installed a Verus Engineering Air / Oil Separator to clean the intake valves clean. Also installed a active axle back exhaust system from Flying Miata that is quiet when your under 40% throttle - above that it lets out a great deep exhaust note. Left my car stock height ( for winter drives ) & the 16 inch winter tires have extra meat between the road / rims which is better for pot holes. Bought the WeatherTech mats & trunk liner to help with any mud / snow / ice. As a single guy this car has worked for me. Really about the best car I've owned for driving. Working on this car is easy as I do my seasonal tire rotations plus my oil changes. All the modifications I've done myself too.

RF's are not convertibles, they are T-tops or Targa's
@indyventures42413 ай бұрын
Targa certainly makes more sense, but it's trademarked by Porsche so nobody else can use it, I think that's why they use the "retractable fastback" instead. But yea, when I think convertible, generally Id think about the rear pillar retracting too.

I own and daily drive a ND3 Miata Club roadster and it’s perfect for my needs! I live in North Carolina, so I have no worry about winter driving conditions and it’s just me and my girlfriend, so it’s definitely capable of handling all our needs as for as truck space is concerned. It gets great gas mileage and the smile it puts on my face every time I drive it is so worth the very few little downsides of a Miata! I am 6’ 170lbs and I fit comfortably and have zero issues getting in and out of the car and I find the driving and seating position to be almost perfect! If you have any qualms about being able to have a ND Miata as your daily driver, it really all just comes down to your own unique situation!

Don't think age will be the thing that gets you in trouble. If you would get pulled over for small things like modded exhaust or tiny burnouts/slight aggressive driving you'll definitely get in trouble for riding on sidewalk bike lane or road. I see 14 year Olds in Idaho riding surrons everywhere. In LA new York Chicago etc places that are more liberal and have more old people will be hard to get away with

I found that going around corners flat with a little slip is more fun than leaning my bike through them, I'm not proficient enough to drift a bike. My Miata corners better than a bike because I'm not afraid of kicking the rear out. MIata offers more fun with less risk.

Bigger sprockets give you less top end speed and more low end torque, and vice versa for smaller sprockets. I put a 48t sprocket on mine to get a little more torque and maintain pretty high top speed. A lot of people who ride them off-road put even bigger 52t and 54t on, I may try those out in the future. The low end is where the fun is at!

I'm on my 5th MX-5 and have put approximately 40K ~ 80K miles on all of them. I had 23K miles on the 4th, of which was totaled this past January 30th. Finding another Platinum Quartz w/Terracotta Napa Leather seats took over a month to find, of which the dealership did. I have just under 3K miles on the new car presently. I can't say much about this car, but I can say all the others were trouble free and all were a pleasure to drive. By the way, I'm 6'1", 247lbs. People always ask me how I get into this car. My answer usually is, Monthly Payments. I admit, it's a little cramped, but who said life was fair? I've driven places over 5 hrs. away and enjoyed every hour on the roads. There are a lot of people that have to squeeze a little to get in and out of these cars, but they do. It's worth it.

Nice review. I’ve had my DeLorean as my daily driver for 6 years. In that time I have gotten used to the visibility and I have very little trouble seeing what I need to see. My 2016 Camaro has far worse visibility. Also once you get used to gull-wing doors, regular doors are absolute pain. I find the handling to be quite good for a car of its era. To be fair I have had a performance exhaust and performance cams installed so I’m getting a little more horsepower out of the engine. The main reason the car was so underpowered was because the United States forced manufacturers to put catalytic converters on dropping engine performance by quite a lot. There was a twin turbo version planed before the company went under and if that version had been manufactured the DeLorean could have been a contender as a proper sports car from its era. I think of my car more like a nice GT, very nice to drive on long highways and road trips
@indyventures42417 ай бұрын
That's something I didn't talk about enough, but I found the seating position enormously comfortable, I could absolutely road trip that car.

I hear you. 21 years and counting I've had my 83'. Luckily for us there are better intakes, exhaust and emissions that help these days. Better electrical and ECU systems too. For those who have the means and desire to, engine/EV options are out there too. I'm not about tell an adult what they can or can't do with their property.

The heater/AC switch is vacuum operated. This is the origin of the noise. The steering is hard,but in my car there is no play at all.At this time, these cars are 40 + years old, and they need a good maintenance. Great video, congratulations. Greetings from Spain.

Would love to be on track with my Delorean vs your Mazda. I think you would be very surprised. The problem with them and why they get a bad reputation for driving dynamics is because they are 40 plus years old. After you replace the bushings and add a set of KW coilovers these things are an absolute blast to drive.
@Keremymz9410 ай бұрын
I know that power steering can be installed on Deloreans, I have seen a few videos of it. Also, I think those who don't want to deal with the clutch can use an automatic transmission.but this vehicle is truly an icon
