Any suggestions if I can't find the plist file in that folder? I'm looking for a different program that's doing the same thing (Universal Audio music plug-in). Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

Nice break down! Love this plugin. Does the hiss from the "noise level" have any other benefits other then just a hiss or is it better to just turn it off? Seems a bit loud when it's just in the middle. Like on the Abbey Road Default. When the sonf isn't veey loud, you can clearly hear the hiss and I'm not sure it's a good thing or not. I understand it's meant to be based on the hardware but yeah. Do you keep it on? Any advice on that? Would I lose anything if i have it off? Thanks.

So it does exactly what a dynamic eq. Can't see the difference.
@NLNPNL
@NLNPNL 3 ай бұрын
With a Dynamic EQ you set a specific frequency and threshold. Smooth Operator divides the signal in many narrow spectral bands. It analyses the signal and then reduces only those bands poking out above the threshold. So it can change which frequencies it's compressing based on the content coming in. It's like a dynamic EQ that automatically changes which frequencies it's compressing, based on resonance.

How did you do gain matching without lots of hassle since the makeup gain only goes down to +2. There's no output knob for some crazy reason

Man that's great Matt, thank you. Hey I'm running OCLP on my 5,1 with Pro Tools 2023.12 the latest version with my trustee Digi 003. Anyhow not just unsupported Macs like mine, but supported Macs as well. People are having to force quit Pro Tools. You have any suggestions ?

Here's an issue with this CLA Vocals plugin. The 'Mono/Stereo' version keeps producing a stereo output - exactly the same as the 'Stereo' version. There is no way to make it produce a mono output, nor is it even mentioned in the manual. I know it's possible to put a plugin after it to force it to mono, but that shouldn't be necessary with a 'Mono/Stereo' version.

It is CPU intensive, but in case you're using it on your mix bus, you should only be using it with already mixed tracks. If you use it on your mix bus it will eat up all your CPU.
@aholder4471
@aholder4471 7 ай бұрын
Yeah I don't even try to use it on my mix buss. It is definitely CPU Intensive which is fine if that's what it takes to do its thing. I just wait until I already have my mix done and rendered and then start a new project that is just for the mastering. It's better that way anyway tbh, it needs to know what's coming way early in order to be so transparent in its limiting and deessing, at least that's what I think seems to be happening.

I very rarely like masters when I receive from so-called mastering engineers, so once I found this plugin I never send my records to anyone else most musicians and producers lean on so called mastering engineers because of feeling insecure, unsure and lacking the n confidence. Don’t forget a hit is first of all about the song, choice of sounds, the way you combine sounds, performance and mixing. Mastering is important but the process is simply stupidly way over rated. It’s also kept as some kind of a mystery, which it is not. Having said that I can clearly see that top end records from artists like Michael Jackson etc have mastering playing a big role, however for more original and gritty smaller budgets mastering has a smaller part to play as the essence of super creative new sounds does not rely or focus on “mastering” in these records mastering is used for volume, brightness and bass low level bass management. This is where this plugin comes in. Throw it in, makes some few tweaks to taste and boom, it’s ready for release. Deals simple, don’t stress about mastering, it’s not a big deal.

Seriously, the best breakdown of CLA Vocals I've ever seen. Thank you!! I recently went way back to a 2013 Waves video live event where CLA himself is breaking down CLA Vocals along with the rest of his Signature Series of plugins and you've confirmed here everything he said back then. The thing is, you've provided even more information than he did such as showing how to get the best tone by driving the input fader all the way up while taking the output fader all the way down, showing the actual EQ curves for the Bass and Treble settings, showing the actual ratios for the compressor settings and confirmed that the Reverb, Delay and Pitch faders actually function like aux sends that blend the wet signal with the original dry signal. Until recently I always thought the latter three were being applied directly to the dry signal and so I couldn't understand why they still sounded so good. So now I feel more confident that CLA Vocals (along with the rest of the CLA Signature Series) routing scheme is set up the same way pro mixers set up their routing of reverbs and delays. I put a Waves F6 Dynamic EQ before CLA Vocals and the combination of the two is magical. Thanks again. Subscribed. 👍👍👍👍👍

Thank you for tuning in. I really try to go above and beyond with my videos. Even if I have to record them a few times. It’s been awhile since I put one out mainly because I got busy with audio work for video games now but I do plan to get back to a schedule of releasing content. Thanks for the Sub!! I greatly appreciate it

From that 2013 video, an exact quote from CLA on the order of the signal chain and how the routing of the Reverb, Delay and Pitch faders are configured: "Remember that this is completely designed how I mix. That means the EQ is before the compressor then after the compressor, the reverb, the delay, and the spreader or the pitch is all sidechained. So, it's like the compressor is the last thing and then it has feeders coming off of it that go into the effects and this is just the level controls to add them into your little mixer and that's just your final output control." For anyone who wants to check out the original video just search the title: Waves Event with Chris Lord-Alge - Part 3: CLA Vocal Plugin

@@MattMontanez Sounds great, man. Good to hear you're working. I appreciate your deep dive here because it's been really hard finding thorough information on CLA's Signature Series. Great that you took the time. I'll be checking out more of your videos and referring people. I self-produce my own songs and mixing-wise I'd call myself somewhere between a late-stage beginner to early-stage intermediate so I need all the help I can get. haha.
