I love how everything worked in concert in this film to reflect a brutal simplicity in the storytelling. The acting, especially Leo and the bear attack rendering the character virtually unable to talk, the stark, unforgiving landscapes that were gorgeously captured, and this soundtrack. It’s all fairly minimalist storytelling but I think that’s what makes it work so well. That, and it’s just a lovely piece of music.

Why does this sound like its -20 celsius and im sitting in my car, waiting for the engine to warm up, about to go to work? So many days i've had to face that feeling now. Still i ask what is the point? There is no point. You just keep going as long as you breathe i suppose.

I just reached this point in the game. I used the Save Crystal glitch in North Cave to get the 8 Counter materia I needed right away. I then mastered 7 Mime Materia (Not Difficult to Do) in the Northern Cave in the Magic Pots room. I had already grinded to Level 99, and Power/Guard Source Farmed for max basic stats. I was aiming to break this game and break the Weapon fights as they were the bane of my existence as a child. Now that I've completed this journey, I feel empty almost. Like.... Now what will be the thing that pulls me in years from now that makes me annually revisit this game again???

Yeah the Weapons ever seemed some invincible force of nature that young me could never hope to overcome. So I was set on going back and settling that score, but once I finally did, I also felt a little hollow thud in me where I expected to feel joy triumphant. And to add to the sad, when I made this video was my last time playing the game. I used to replay it at least every other year, but what is there left to do now? 😢

Absolutely beautiful video. I've seen a lot of Angel's Egg AMVs, especially over the last few years, and almost all of them lean into the anime's creepy Gothic atmosphere, but this one drapes itself in a much more somber, melancholy tone that doesn't have that vaguely threatening feel that I'm used to with this source. Fantastic stuff!
