Dear Isha Yoga Center, During the practice of Yoga Namaskaram, I would like some clarification regarding the positioning of the thumbs. Should the thumbs be kept naturally relaxed, or is there a specific alignment or bend that should be maintained? I would appreciate any guidance on the correct placement to ensure I am performing the practice as intended. Thank you very much for your assistance

I love Sadhguru but ptsd is deeper than that, some people don’t even remember what traumatised them, trauma is not holding to the past! It’s being stuck in freeze mode as a response to a threat to once life!!! The healthy thing to do is fight or flight the threat, you got ptsd when you choose to freeze to avoid the threat!

An important parable: Punna, the monk, was going to a very uncivilized section of India and so went to say goodbye to the Buddha. The Buddha said to him, “Those people in that area are very uncivilized. They’re known to be very rough. What will you do if they insult you?” Punna replied, “If they insult me, I will say to myself, these are very good people in that they’re not hitting me.” And the Buddha said, “What if they hit you?” I will say to myself, "These are very good people in that they are not stoning me.” And the Buddha said, “What if they stone you?” I will say to myself, These are very good people in that they are not stabbing me.” And the Buddha said, “What if they stab you?” “I will say to myself, “These are very good people in that they are not killing me.” And the Buddha said, “What if they kill you?” “I will tell myself, “At least (I did not take my own life).” And the Buddha said, “You are fit to go.”

Many will come to view this video probably due to some childhood trauma, maybe they are having bad dreams or feeling constrained in their daily lives. There are various comments that said he did not answer the question. I put it bluntly as such: If you put a big fish and a small fish together in a fish tank and the big fish tries to eat the small fish, inevitably, the small fish will feel traumatized. It will feel traumatized while it is in the same fish tank or until it gets eaten. This is a rather extreme example but illustrates what is meant by the process of the unwinding of karma (it can't be helped), and recognizing that "things that do not happen the way you think it should happen, maybe it is happening somebody else's way". Unlike the small fish, most beings will have the capacity to respond to the trauma such as not letting these events define them, understanding that the fear itself is also part of the ignorance, and seeking to adapt and thrive.

This man shouldn't be speaking on humbleness he's literally one of the most prideful people on the planet. He once said "If god came down I wouldn't listen to him because I know better" among many other things trying to make himself seem like the smartest best person in existence. Lmao but yet here he talking about being humble 😂

His understanding of the topic is quite narrow. He consistently promotes his ideas and products, aiming to satisfy the conservative religious followers. Throughout the conversation, he fails to acknowledge the faults of social and patriarchal practices, as well as religious conservatism, which are major contributors to these social issues. Instead, he blames modernity and societal changes, suggesting that village society is better, early marriage was a good solution, and that urban culture is to blame for such problems. He even concludes by saying that it's just human nature, a notion that has been thoroughly disproven. Village society is one of the most oppressive environments for women. I am from a village in Uttar Pradesh, In villages women are often unaware of what rape even is-the cruelty inflicted on them is part of the common culture. Abusing women is a widespread practice, treating them as inferior is the general trend, and there is no freedom to make decisions about their own futures. The society is such that men see themselves as rulers of the other gender. There's a severe lack of sensitivity; 90% of women don't use sanitary pads or don't practice proper body care-they're reduced to lifelong household drudges. Early times were even worse for women. We had practices like Sati and Devdasi, breast tax more ,even there was a No reporting mechanism, the abuse continued, with no one to hold the abusers accountable. At least now, women can report these atrocities. Promoting celibacy is not the solution, as every roaming celibate is not true one -many are even bigger culprits, like Asharam and Ram Rahim. We know the kind of thinking groups like Bajrang Dal have about women. The old Brahminical culture has made society rigid and conservative. The scriptures are filled with anti-women verses, and the stories are full of gods committing rapes (like Indra and Ahilya). Conservative stories like the Ramayana depict women having to prove their chastity repeatedly, yet she thrown out into the jungle in the end. The cutting of women's noses and ears is so casually mentioned in these stories. These are the sources from which society draws its morals. When modern women challenge men and confront them, men struggle to accept this defeat because it is new to them. Rape has never been about sexuality and lust-there are other ways to fulfill those needs, like visiting a prostitute (although its not right). It’s about inner anger and domination over the other gender, proving one's superiority. These acts aren’t about sexual pleasure; they’re about the feeling of winning and crushing someone, which is why they are so inhumane and brutal😢. Most of the time, it’s someone known person to the victim who do such thing. These men seek dominance and want to teach a lesson to other gender -that’s what studies say. Think about the cases of child rape-what kind of pleasure do they get from a child or from an 50-year-old woman? So It’s never been about sexual need. This issue can only be solved from the grassroots level by making the system more efficient, increasing the conviction rate, and catching these people more effectively. We need to change society from the ground up, starting with villages. We must make education more sensitive, increase communication between genders, and promote modern ideas. We need to make society more open, vocal, and engaging, while also imparting sex education, gender sensitivity, and human and rational thought. Although I’ve written about Hinduism, I mean this applies to every religion-even Islam has some of the worst conditions for women, which is even more depressing..... humanity should given higher preference....

He didn't even touch the question. Traumatic experiences wire your brain in a way that you just can't come out of it. Where you are born and where you grew up shapes the thing which you call "you" in a way that it doesn't change no matter where you go. If you are lucky enough to be born in a healthy and loving environment you become a healthy, happy and loving human being and vice versa. Listening to these so called Gurus may be entertaining, but you will never get any better.
