In my orchestra class the violas sound higher, I don’t know if it’s my teacher who tunes the violas to make them a higher pitch, but I heard other violas that sound like this one in the video. I’m a violinist :)

Is Viola just a bigger Violin?

Viola is about 2-3 inches bigger than violin. The lowest string is a C string, while the lowest string for the violin is the G. Viola is like an Alto, and the violin is like a Soprano (in chorus).

@@dannieduwop I’m in orchestra at my school, you can buy/ rent a viola and buy the viola book 1. That’s how I also learned 🫶🏻

I played for a couple of years in middle school.. I remember walking into my orchestra class and seeing the trade centers on the tv.. And you just made me cry.. Thank you.. I'm going to go look for another viola.

It’s been many years but I’d been thinking about playing again for a while and was trying to decide between the viola or switching to the violin because of the abundance of resources available but I went in to the violin shop yesterday and tried them both and came home with a viola and the trusty old Essential Elements for Strings book. Nothing beats the sound of a viola. I practiced for an hour last night. It’s amazing the muscle memory I still have and how good it feels to hold an instrument again. I wish I had never stopped playing. I hope you enjoy playing again. Good luck to you!
