Is it possible to use Libresprit instead? I cannot afford Aesprite
@illusionofmana29 күн бұрын
you can and I think my earliest tutorial, the ramen cup shows how to do UVs without an auto texture updater plugin. It just slows the process down but yes its 100% possible, you could even run UV textures in MSPaint if you wanted.

I'm currently at 24:40 I just want to say that this is a good lesson for everyone starting. These same techniques can be mostly applied to high poly characters and is honestly a wonderful introduction to basic anatomy and tool use in blenders UI. 10/10 Barely confusing very breathable You were not lying the hair is so damn hard I went for a more goth look instead of yours and had to try several times to get the bangs right
@illusionofmana29 күн бұрын
Yeah its really a wicked workflow. I want to polish that out one day and just do a good run on how to do hair optimally. Since we dont use reference images here in the scene that much, that also makes it a bit harder.

Please help. I've done everything exactly as you said and everything was fine until you said to click the Pribambase option below the Tools bar. The Pribambase option does not exist. I installed Loop Tools as well and it also does not appear where it should. I'm on B 2.83

Ooof yeah thats a tough one, Ive had to reinstall the plugin a few times before to get past this. Often its just installing it on blender and aseprite and making sure theyre in those respective addon menus then close and reopen the programs. If you still have issues, try aseprite 1.3 and blender 3.0. Ive had very good results on plugin support with 3.0

Thank you so much, is this the latest version? from what I've heard the developer ended support, but there's a version developed and worked on by another community member.
@illusionofmanaАй бұрын
I currently host the latest release version. The last dev did end support and originally pulled the project from the internet. This is why Ive archived it. Currently there is a newer version being worked on but its not clear on when it will launch. Between you and I, the new dev has scope crept the project instead of focusing on the core of it. So I dont see a new version coming out until mid next year. I will update the community when a change happens though!

@ansettaustraliaАй бұрын
This might be a dumb question, but how do you ensure all the textures ‘pixels’ are the same size and uniform across all the models and UVs?
@illusionofmanaАй бұрын
its a mix of a few things. TLDR: just use the grid snap tool on your object when modeling and the UV pixel corner snap for the UV. Keeping in mind the scale of your objects so every Unit is = to 1 pixel. The long explanation. Every object is scaled around exact units, since you can grid snap vertices in Blender. So if I am making a cardboard box, say ill grid snap its 8 verts to make the box 10 units wide by 8 units tall by 16 units deep. I now know how large each face of the box is going to be in pixels. 2 are going to be 8x10, 2 are going to be 10x16, and 2 are going to be 8x16 pixels big. So from there ill draw up a texture that matches those dimensions per face then UV map the object to that texture. I do this globally to every object and thats how you get pixel perfect objects in a 3D space. Blender has UV pixel snap settings as well that make this so easy, often you just get into the flow and even complex objects are easy to make. For odd shaped objects like cylinders or corners at 45 degree angles, I just eyeball it and adjust the UV on the fly until it looks good.

Awesome tutorial. I had a stupid question though, how are you modeling without a refrence, is it something you learn by trying?
@illusionofmana4 ай бұрын
Yes it comes with practice, and it helps the character in this is my OC. So I already knew where I was taking it, and nothing wrong with pulling a reference while modeling too. I honestly should have done a front back and side render for this tutorial though. It definitely would have been far more helpful for beginners. Im still learning how to set these up as I make them though!

i think every 3d modeller has to learn and start from low poly. or at least to some extent do it, so you have solid basic knowledge when you model from scratch/from a limited image reference. if namco could make ps1 tekken cool with the limitation of the tech, and seeing how advanced 3d modeling have evolved, i dont see why we cannot do this as indie artists! it helps you push the boundaries and being more detail oriented. at least to me..
@illusionofmana4 ай бұрын
Absolutely agree. Abstraction and shape theory is a big thing to grasp for artists in all fields. I believe low poly teaches people this as well as some good practices in formatting. I think, if you can model and UV map a low poly object today... who's to say you cant double the level of detail next week and the weeks after.
