Since it doesn't encrypt executables, does that mean even if every computer on the Internet was infected, a sufficiently clever programmer with an offline system could write a program that would block it from infecting that offline computer (once re-connected to the Internet) and attempt to use the same vulnerability to reverse the damage worldwide? Potentially even seeking out the attackers decryption key (If they were done and left their own computer online after releasing it)? FWIW: i came here because I had heard about this but thankfully never encountered it on any of my systems. So naturally, I wanted to see what it looked like when it runs. Theoretically I could do the same experiment on a virtual machine of my own, and it shouldn't be able to spread since the vulnerability has been fixed (or so we've been told, and I'm sure others have tried using it), but honestly I couldn't be bothered when I figured someone would already have footage of it.
