Hi thank you! Could you do a role play so I could see what an evaluation actually looks like? And tips for being efficient while doing so would be helpful. Thanks!

😮 7.15 mark, 7.28 mark of video you say AXE your question, thats embarrassing you cant say ASK not AXE, i see so many black people who cannot properly say the word ASK instead of AXE.

Once I retire from my HR job in about 3 yrs or less (Note: I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Mgmt and a Master’s Degree in HR Mgmt) (but still work as needed as a Real Estate Investor), the plan is to look into going to get my doctorate degree in OT and to work at the hospital. Maybe 5 yrs later after getting used to working full-time, I would look into just working PRN. I am married so we plan on having 1 kid (or no kid) so I want to be able to make my own schedule if I can help it.

How do you usually plan your day , sequence Do you keep the evals as first then the treatments and discharge ? On what basis do you decide or any advices for it , switching from outpatient to snf so thinking a bit
@LovelyyOT
@LovelyyOT 6 ай бұрын
I usually do my evals first in the morning and then I will finish typing it out during lunch ( since patients are not available during that time). However, if am taking lunch, I will finish the entire eval in the am ( my brain is the most alert at this time ) and then treatments as patients are available, some patients do better in the AM versus PM.. I also like to do my morning check-ins when I get there in the morning with everyone on my schedule just to give them a heads-up that I will be seeing them that day. Once you get used to the setting, you can figure out what works best for you.

Yes for home health! I just interviewed for a PRN home health in an area about 45 mins away and they said they could give me a half day/wk 3 patients but I just felt that wasn’t enough for the 1.5 total drive home and there. I want atleast a full day

Well OT is VERY different in terms of education... you need at least a master's degree to become licensed & to practice

Hi Nancy. I'm a new grad whose been working full time in a SNF for about a year now and thinking about making the jump to PRN. Do you find that on average you end up making the same if not more PRN vs working full time? And if so, how many hours do you average a week to do it? I'm worried that I won't make as much as I do now if I do multiple PRN jobs and just wanted some insight. Thanks!

It depends if you get hrs as a prn vs is you do not ..if you desire to work 40 hrs as a prn make sure that you work with mx companies at a time and make sure to let then know hrs you would like to work

Blew out both ACLs had both replaced with various body parts I regret every bit of it. Especially my right knee which the surgery utterly ruined my life. I can no longer run I have to stave myself to maintain a somewhat healthy weight. He tore out my pettla tendon and it never healed right. That is not what makes me mad ether what makes me mad is he manipulated me into that surgery and almost killed me with a incompetent anesthesiologist that should have known it was unsafe to use general anesthesia on me. But no now I have to deal with the trama and the pain both. I did everything right as well and was very active now I am nothing more than a cripple in his 20s.

OT is 95% women, paid like shit, its hard work (if you do it right), nobody understands or respects what you do BUT Its rewarding, you have a lot of options (just not financially), jobs are eeeasy to find in 2024 and its easy to work parttime. If you're looking for meaning and like people.. good choice. If you wanna make money, have an easy life or have a career (status).. bad choice.
@LovelyyOT

I agree to a point 🤗 I do think there are opportunities to make more money as well.. You can start a business non clinical or clinical.

100% OTs are underpaid. Found out from senior OTs that Hospitals NEED OTS, they dont know why but they NEED em always. Not to mention they know the whole body as well and do MENTAL health. At one hospital my friend is an OT making more than PTs because hospitals bill more for OTs but def OTs are underpaid

Great video and informative , I’ve been speaking with a few schools in narrowing down to BS in Exercise Science with an emphasis on sports performance where it seems it can open doors to occupational therapy but I also saw there’s a program in another school that can get me from BS-Doctoral in occupational therapy . I like the thoroughness this BS in Science with emphasis on sports performance offers and I saw some schools I can transfer to MS but I wonder if that’s delaying instead of maybe going BS- Doctorate in OT. I wonder what are your thoughts ? I’m still searching a few schools , I do know I want to dive into the field of OT but I guess I wants BS in Science that can still potentially open the career field even aside from OT if that makes sense
