Hi Lex, A month ago I had a wakeboarding accident. I caught a front edge and slammed into a box rail, fractured and dislocated my shoulder. I was told its not healing correctly so a week ago i had surgery and my arm will be in a sling for a few more weeks. I just wondered if you've ever had a serious wakeboarding accident and did it affect your confidence coming back? Thanks, Duncan.

Oh wow I'm so sorry to hear about your injury and surgery! I hope it's on the mend and you heal speedily! That must have huuuuurt!! Yes, I have defo had a decent amount of injuries from wakeboarding and snowboarding. But from wakeboarding, I fractured my collar bone on a box which healed and then made me a bit cautions learning backlip for a while, but I just took it slow and built up my confidence again. And then lots of edges learning raleys - which I still haven't got because I just don't want big edges ha So I learnt bankrolls instead.. I guess the main thing is to find a way that makes you feel comfortable to get back into it, and also enjoy it :) I hope that helps?

Thank you, that helps. Yes, Ive had some snowboarding accidents as well. It was the worst pain I've experienced as the longer it's dislocated the worse the pain gets. The pain from surgery has now gone and I have my first check up tomorrow so hopefully it's on the mend. No wake boarding for me until next year I think. Thanks for your reply.

The boardf is a Jobe. Last time I went out i noticed my board wasnt sliding very well on a metal rail, but its the first time ive been on a metal rail, the plastic rails were all ok. Was just wondering if its a sign it needs to be waxed.

It's been good. I think if you came back you would find it much bigger now. They have added a lot of boxe rails and other features. I hope to come up to liquid leasure before the summer is out.

South Coast Wake Park is def my home park but getting out to New Forest once a month (ish) for some full cable shenanigans. As the the back roll, tried failed, tried again still failed and I wont be doing it again for a while 🤣🤣

Sounds like there’s a story with the ol backrolls?! I must have thrown 100 of them before I landed one 😂 slow learner right here haha I’ve not been to South Coast, it’s on the list! And I haven’t ridden New Forest for nearly nine years 😵💫 it was fun though! Glad to hear you’re get in on the water loads! And at two different parks, that’s the dream!

@@lexballadon only been riding since last Sept (what a hobby to take up in your 40s 🤣) and before I smashed my Coxyx a few months ago a tried it a few times and just ate it every time, got a little cocky. My target at the mo is kicker front 1s/3s which I'm a sneeze away but "just" can't land yet 🤣 And Def check it out down here if you get the chance, I absolutely love it, such a find to have on the doorstep 🥳

Your rolls are EPIC. Even the ones that faff reflect a level of commitment that is wowww. Not sure if landing rolls and loops in tow is as insanely painful as it was in windsurfing (at least back in the day)? Am hoping not. Nice job Lex👍

Great vid and, wow, the sheer speed of that cable never fails to impress. Have to say you make wakeboarding look awesome fun. Yup, freshwater temps this time of year can be deceptive, so yay 5mm suits, as well as anything that stops things getting numb. Nice job Lex 👍
