The Matrix had to add some misery for humanity to be happy. The HFY stories are different from previous sci-fi and I enjoy it. You can watch old sci-fi for the human lucky to win scenario.

There are just as many stories wherein the earth is destroyed. Humanity nearly or completely snuffed out or massive wars where things move back and forth. Or if you'd like Humans are the most advanced in the galaxy try reading Quorum of War.

@ I’ve read and seen the show but that wasn’t it. It was a sci-fi Reddit KZbin channel. That particular story was like 15 minutes but it was a girl narrating the invasion and devastation until she had the revelation of why the aliens were invading and killing humans

Spinward Fringe by Randolph Lalonde. I think he's on book number 22 now. It's a absolutely epic story. It falls under the category of hard science fiction.

After listening to a few of these I have figured out the AI prompt: Include the words Crystalline, massive chamber, clicking mandibles, four eyes, buzzed with activity, fingers claws or tentacles flying across keyboards at some point, everything is done with grim determination, ensure the words "that is impossible" are used often, include an empire or dominion with a grand admiral, also have an evil alien species starting with the letters Z, X or Y and ensure that the humans have some hidden super technology that they don't use for their societies benefit unless attacked. etc and then repeat the story in five different ways, while making it under 30 minutes long! (we will get the AI to read it)

Wow.. now this was a truly awesome story, completely original.. I've never heard, read anything like it.. I've heard of speculation of the Earth's age, allowing for other species to grow into civilizations, and fade millions of years before us, and Mankind not ever knowing what had come before.. Just occasionally finding hints, clues that we don't yet fully understand.. It would be incredible if such a civilization had left their science, their technology, their arts and philosophies for us to learn from when we were ready. and to be Mankind's Guardian, Protectors in a hostile universe..

This was written by AI for sure. The story repeats certain parts over and over again, but in a different way. So you probably plugged in the idea into ChatGPT, but you didn't write this. If you did you'd notice how bad the repetitions are.
