That’s so bad ass. Does she ever save any ducks for you or do you let her keep what she kills?
@WingFury964 ай бұрын
The bird prefers to eat on my hand since ducks have a lot of feathers and it sticks to her eyes while she's taking the feathers off. She insists while fighting with the catch on the ground not to interfere while she's neutralizing it, afterwards she signals me with her eyes that it's time to come and pick her up to finish the eating session on my hand with a glove.

This is the Lanner
@Semendrija1238 ай бұрын
This is actually very impressive for the Lanner falcon! I'm sure if you keep up with this level of improvement you will do great at sky trial. And while the Lanner doesn't have the speed of the peregrine, both in the stoop and in the level flight, I'm actually impressed with the flight style! I actually like more the flights that end up in a aerial "dog fight", and this is where the biggest difference between the Lanner and Peregrine comes from in my opinion. Lanner has lower wing loading and it has tighter turns than a peregrine, and it also has shorter throw ups with abrupt change in flight direction unlike the peregrine that has long/high throw ups. My guess is that the peregrine can utilize higher inertia from the initial stoop, and can use the higher speed from the throw up for faster closure rate with the prey where the timing is very important for the survival rate of the prey. Higher the closure speed, the more difficult is for the prey to time the escape turn/maneuver properly. On the other hand, Lanner doesn't have the same level of inertia in a throw up, but it can turn tighter and because of that it can reduce the distance from the prey and overtake it, but at slower closure rate. But again, I think that the Lanner is more maneuverable at slower speed than peregrine and it can follow the direction change of the prey better. In any case you have a great bird, good like with future progress!

Thank you fellow friend, its been two years flying Peregrine and Lanner falcon which are on the same level observing the differencies. In my opinion different elevation techniques such as Lanner has higher height in specific the case with comparing Sekira and Loki. So the different stoop and dive technique during which the lanner falcon has higher success rate catching pigeons. I haven’t been able to measure speed yet, hoping to accomplish it this year. Also he already participated in two competitions, one organised by me personally. As a final note if anyone reading the comments has Sky trails interest do not hesitate to contact me.
@Semendrija1238 ай бұрын
@@WingFury96 Yes, I have noticed that Lanner's do have higher success rate in the first years. I was talking to my fried who is hunting sand grouse with Lanner's and Peregrines in Africa. In the beginning he had success with the Lanner, and he wasn't able to catch them with the Peregrine. The trick was, Lanner was slower in the stoop and it could adjust the attack in time in order to predict the sand grouse movement. Peregrine's were faster, but in order for peregrine to be successful it takes longer time to master the high speed stoop. After some time and with more experienced birds they started to catch the grouse with the peregrines on regular basis. He also claims that the peregrine is faster in a stoop and in the level flight, and I have measured my male peregrine at almost 200 km/h from the height of just 140 m! He is just 525 g flying weight, but he is killing cock pheasants that are over 1,5 kg. Since there are a lot of cover where I hunt, I don't go higher than that with my falcons because even if they would fly much faster, there is simply not enough time for them to catch the prey because it would take cover before the falcon would reach it. I have also measured my peregrines at 120 km/h in level flight in no wind conditions. But your Lanner is amazing bird! I have seen your other flights on partridge and that was almost perfect! We are probably going to make the sky trials next year, I will call you for sure. Where are you from?
