Deepest thanks, Rinpoche. The idiom relating consciousness and eyesight to a bow and arrow reminds me of the popular English phrases “if looks could kill,” “giving someone an evil eye” and “shooting daggers”. It seems that even non-Buddhists instinctively know that looking at anything with the wrong intention can be dangerous. Also, regarding the catwalk - perhaps we should call it a “bonewalk” or “dakini walk” instead.

Thank you Rinpoche. I have always been a little confused by the expression "good in the beginning, good in the middle, good in the end" which seems to lend itself to multiple interpretations. Buddhaghosa's succinct formulation where each of these stages is linked to one of the three trainings is marvellously clarified here and has certainly given me a point of orientation.

Thank you, Rinpoche. I think a slight crack is beginning to appear in my cocoon of delusion.
This is a very important work - the Visudhimagga. I am very glad you have tackled - "untangling" this work for us. I know attendance on your first class was not ideal. But little by little it spreads. As of today September 7 there are 489 visitors to this lecture here. Some of the best advanced lectures online only reach a few hundred people. The Meditation manual of Kumarajiva classes by Tomas Dhammadipa - also - just a few hundred views - if people were ready for this material - it would be millions - but this sort of advanced teachings is not yet really for the masses. Thanks very much for taking the time to work through this important work - and confirming the underlying unity of the fundamental teachings of Mahayana Theraveda and Vajrayana - and the warning on spiritual egotism. It is so ridiculous we have to struggle with pride - precisely as we work on our paths of liberation from ignorance.

The Indian Government requires all foreign visitors to have a PAP - permit. This is available only from the ministry of external affairs and is applied for during your visa application. This rule applies to all Tibetan settlements.
