Not sure how trying to discredit Steven King is somehow beneficial to your points here, that aside, I couldn’t disagree more. The original is actually quite amateurish in its direction, the reason why its regarded as one of the best horror movies of a decade full of the best horror movies is because of the sheer creativity, vision, and the evocative nature of it. The remake on the other hand is shallow and plays it too safe. It has prestige horror trappings to disguise the fact that its just a slasher movie thats slipped into the skin of Hellraiser. I also disagree that the characters from the original are shallow. I would encourage you to read the Hellbound Heart novella which hellraiser was adapted from, or at the very least watch Collative Learnings hour long video on the psychology of the characters extrapolated from both the film and book. The only character im the remake that has any depth is Voight, who has less screentime than the Cenobites, and is himself a shallow rip off of Dr Channard from Hellraiser 2

It's not iron man 3 but it's good don't ask me why i love iron man 3 it's just my favorite superhero movie of all time. It's been a long time since I've seen Iron Man 3 but I remember enjoying it. I personally really loved the darker tone of this movie because I think it was appropriate for justifying the character's imperfections, and it was part of the reason it actually made me feel something in a marvel movie for the first time in a while. It didn't feel sanitized which is awesome to me. Really glad you liked it!

Justified by his past coming back to literally haunt him. It's clear he always worried about it because that's why he never allowed himself to open up to the other guardians. But now he's forced to come to terms with it. People won't face the dark sides of their psyche until they're forced to because of life circumstances

@sirloopyarts Жыл бұрын
To be honest I would give them both a 6/10 for their own strengths and weaknesses so I don't think SISU is a massive yard better than JW4 or anything. There are far more contributing factors than just writing that go into that score but I feel like the writing itself does hold up better in SISU
@szlava3641
@szlava3641 Жыл бұрын
I would disagree with you. 1) The fact that we don’t know the people on the HIgh Table, but that they are scary enough to throw all of their resources in the direction of the John Wick is huge part to why JW4 is great. 2) John Wick had friends and resources (that explains the bullet proof vest, etc.) in all places of the globe. Sisu is a different circumstance. He’s just in one country. Its apples to oranges 3) Many of the new people that we are introduced to in JW4 (Caine, Mr Nobody, etc) show why they fit into the plot of the movie.

I've seen the whole series so I follow who the characters are and the lore behind the jacket. I get your points for sure but I do stand by the idea that the jacket weakens the action by making him too invincible..sort of the movies identity tho so I would understand anyone feeling different

In future videos of this type I'll break down the same concepts in a different way. Instead of talking about the progression of WANTS - NEEDS - BELIEFS, I'll talk about your character living in a lie and learning the truth (and how to structure and pace that.) It produces the same results when doing that correctly.

I had a hard time watching this movie. I despise religion and I never had a close relationship to anyone (not even family). I don't quite get why some people NEED to be SO CLOSE to others. I apreciate my own space and solitude, so the idea of having so many people so close to me was what "scared" me the most about Midsommar.
