While I understand that soccer is a popular sport worldwide, I am disabled. Some children are also disabled. If their legs don't work, a soccer ball makes very little sense. I love including musical instruments! I am a musician. Just a note to consider: Metal harmonicas last a LOT longer and stay in tune way better,

❤Love how you pack so much love in your shoeboxes! We too love to pack them as full as possible! Love journeying to the OCC Processing Center in Charlotte NC every year in November and December! Greg and Debbie Garland, Springboro Ohio.

I love group projects. What is the “shiny material “ used to symbolize the mirror? I would love to have the pattern.

I think it is awful that her notebook is now bent . . Shoeboxes should be made wider so notebooks and coloring books could lay flat .

So glad to know musical instruments are considered wow items! We concentrate on making sure kids have sufficient school supplies and hygiene items then fill in the boxes with toys. This past year we included a harmonica in every shoebox of every age. Some also got recorders or wrist bells or another musical instrument. We included a filled with fun water bottle in each one as well. I have only done soccer balls once because they were gotten in bulk by our OCC group and was less expensive that way. I want to be able to fill lots of boxes and the cost of soccer balls and pumps would mean less boxes. Once we fill up with school supplies, though, we try to add as many fun items as we can. All the older kids (5-14) received a bag of marbles as I found out a gentleman in our congregation actually makes marbles! So he donated about 150 bags of marbles! Both boys and girls received a bag of marbles! Every age box received a yo-yo as well. We had fun putting together lots of boxes with fun stuff in them! Had Dollar Tree baby dolls wrapped in homemade blankets for the 2-9 girls boxes also. I’ve been our church team leader for 5 years now and learn something new every year to pack better boxes! I’ve done most of the purchases for our boxes so it limits how much we can do, but have had several donations last year. (2024) After learning about an Amazon wish list from one of your videos, I found out how to make one and now have one I’ve posted on our church fb page! Last year my personal goal was to supply things for 100 boxes and we did more than that. This year my goal is for 200! We are a small church made up of mostly senior citizens but have been blessed with folks willing to donate every year! Im excited about this year since I now know we can do an Amazon wish list! Thank you! ❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏

This was my first year picking a box. I didn't really understand it very well but now I’m learning more about it so I hope to do it again and better. What I liked in those instructions was to include a note. I found a sheet on the website to fill out and mail with the box along with a picture of our family. I hope whoever gets our box likes seeing who is praying for him.

Hello, Christy! Been a while since I’ve watch you. I have hear about Amazon wish lists before and I’ve been thinking about creating an Amazon wish list, but not sure how to go about doing so. Could you please explain how to find where to go on Amazon to create one?

My Mom made the blanket size being called "lovey" as stuffed animal blankets. Secondly, as late as the 1980's Cuban girls ( remember the boat lift?) with devout families only let their daughters wear cosmetics and certain types of jewelry when they were old enough to date(15 and older). Since this is Operation Christmas Child, none of these things are for the dating scene ( harder for girls/ doll clothing). Also, think of school wear vs Saturday night and the clothing/ accessories one would pick. My Mom also enforced a similar rule.

I am a horse girl, too! I made lots of girl horse shoeboxes and filler. I write a little note about how much I loved having horses on the farm and I would ride them and brush them. They made such wonderful companions. They are very social and especially like when you let another horse come along on your ride. Riding horses is a fun thing to do by yourself or with friends. I love that blanket. A think a girl will be so happy to receive that!

I appreciate you making this video. I understand the concern about slave labor and do not purchase from the ones you mentioned. I do purchase from Dollar tree and wonder how those items are made so inexpensively unless they also have slave labor. I would suggest you check the ungodly support that Target insists on contributing to. You can find the info on the American family association site. Thanks for all you do

School supplies, as notebooks, do not fit in the official boxes. We use adult shoe boxes. This happened to be a year I didn't make toys, lap quilts but did make carry bags. The clothes I bought on sale but the age range is so broad it is almost awful to get something suitable. We have considered the boxes as "life savers" and attempt to put things that will last, be helpful, could be shared, etc. The year we could not get shoe boxes (stores changing), we got official boxes and about half of what we had ready to pack would not fit in. Sandals, cups, school notebooks, recorders....

I went over to your website and there is no printable for the friendship bracelet. Would love to have access. If not there, where can you suggest I find it? (Besides your FB gropu which someone has blocked me from - for which I have no idea why.) Thanks for any help. I"m quite content to be blocked as I have no choice about it, but would love to know where a similar printable could be found with that information about the friendship bracelets.

Just a warning that dice may be confiscated as they can be used for gambling. When I volunteered at the warehouse as a sorter decks of cards and dice were taken out as some areas had high gambling problems and they didn't want to enable that in anyway. Cards like uno or matching cards were acceptable.

Am interested in all this and joined Blessings in a Shoebox facebook group. Then, as I was checking out the files section, suddenly nothing was there. It was very strange. Now I can't even find the Blessings in a Shoebox FB group so obviously I've been blocked. As a missionary in Poland who actually has passed out those boxes, it is a bit frustrating to be considered a spammer. If someone would unblock me, I'd appreciate it. I want to spread the word to my loved ones in our home town about OCC. Thankfully I've found some other FB groups, but even in going to your website, they send people to the FB group to get the files such as decorating the boxes pictures, etc.

When I went to the processing center in Atlanta last year we came across a box that only had one baby doll in it and that was it! We were so shocked! We had some fillers but not as much as I wish we would have. The processing centers can always use fillers! It's so important and needed!

We do a group picture on packing day of who’s there and a note with what our church is and that we love them in Jesus Christ!😊 Is there directions or information on the mirror masks somewhere? Please share. I would love to make some. I make fleece snugglies with satin binding on one side.

I start shopping right after Christmas. If you watch the clearance sales after Christmas, you can get some good quality toys. I bought a six pack of Barbie dolls from Sam’s when year after Christmas and the real Barbies cost me like three dollars apiece. And they will last longer than the generic ones.I also look for big packages with multiple dinosaurs or small cars and trucks and then we just open the packages and put the new toys in the boxes

This year i did 10-14. I found a puzzle that was 9 small puzzles of different puppies in pook a dot teacups. It came with a poster. I took the puzzles out of the box and put them into a canvas zip bag i got at hobby lobby. I found a coloring book full of stickers that can be colored with a multy pack of colored pencils and a sharpener. I put those items into another canvas totbag and added a fun journal. A hair brush, toothpaste and toothbrush were practical items. I found some cute craft packs. One was 3 ornaments to color and the other was window suncatchers to paint. 4 rubber stamps with butterflies and a purple ink pad. In an organza bag i put a handmade siap that smells like strawberrykiwi and 2 flavored blistix capstick. Lastly, a bracelet. I did not do a "wow" item but I was try8ng to be prayerful and spirit led so i pray the girl who receives it is wowed as she explores the mystery of bags.

If people want to build a box, but don't have a lot of money or time, they can build a shoe box online for $25 and it goes to the hardest to reach areas. They get to choose several items, including soccer balls!
