Hey Pati, I returned home to Australia from Europe this week and I have to say that Greece (especially Athens) is now somewhere on the top of my faves list alongside Rome, Cinque Terre, Egypt and Kyoto. I spent my first week in Athens sharing an apartment opposite Evangelismos station with a mate and two of my cousins from England. We found the Acropolis to be magnificent and cannot believe just how much it dominates the whole of the capital. The food is awesome, (recommentadions are Oroscopo, 1888 meze bar and for a very special treat , SOIL Restaurant.) the amount of historical sites to visit and the museums (especially the Acropolis Museum) is amazing. Like you, we also did a walk up Philopapou Hill for brilliant views of the whole city and of course the Acropolis. The walk around there is as you say, so lovely. We also stayed on Naxos for a week, then the same on Paros, with visits to Delos, Mykonos and Antiparos too, then returned to Athens for a few more days before we came home. The second time in Athens we stayed directly opposite the Acropolis station. It was pretty busy there, but a great location. Thanks for your content, it is helpful for travellers and this time it has already brought back memories by seeing places I have only just visited. Keep up the great work. All the best to you from Mark. :) I would have included pics too, but cannot see if it is possible here.

Are you currently living in Athens? My husband and I are planning to move to Greece for a year, we don't know where yet. But we have been to Greece 3 times, 2 in Athens and Aegina, and the other time in Corfu, Paxos, Anti-Paxos.

Thanks for the details. I am curious about the personal item only thing. When I google all the cheap Euro airlines I see the luggage allowance being a small suitcase AND a personal item. Is that not true ? I ask as I purposely bought a small carry on suitcase and a small backpack that is about 16L and fits under the seat with the assumption that I could bring both without an extra fee if the luggage fits in the sizers.
@PatiTheTimelessTraveller
@PatiTheTimelessTraveller 9 күн бұрын
It really depends on the airline. But the majority of budget airlines in Europe will charge you extra for anything more than a personal item. Ryanair or Wizzair, for example, has an option to purchase a "priority boarding," which includes a small cabin suitcase and a personal item. But this is paid product. Some larger or "normal" airlines will, of course, let you take a suitcase on board for free. It's not the case with budget airlines. If you don’t want to pay, it's a personal item only.

Great video, I think you explained this subject of money spot on , especially choosing how to not spend money everywhere and not saving for the love of travel . I am listening to you explaining your situation and looking at my life. I've waited 35 years to make this decision! I was 25 in Greece for a month, living with my greek family, and it changed me to this day. But I stayed in California to make lots of money with my own company to visit the greek Islands with my own yacht and be free and feel the greek spirit that is so beautiful in my blood . That has been my dream. It seems all my life now . This would mean joy to my soul. I have that glimpse of what your soul feels, and it's truly amazing, bravo to you . Keep the spirit ❤😂🎉

Hi Pati,I’ve visited the area of Kallithea twice ,once in 2020 and again last year , and was surprised how bad it had gone downhill ,the amount of graffiti and litter was noticeably worse, even things like the cats you see were thinner than the last time I was there ,and the amount of businesses that closed ,I know it has a Russian immigrant population that makes up a large part of it but I found it very scruffy and dirty compared to other areas of Athens

It's funny how two people can see one place so differently. That's why it's always a good idea to visit before making any big decisions :) I love it here, I think it's a nice, lively and clean area. ❤️

Hi there! Since you mentioned the expensive side of Athens (Riviera), there are also the north suburbs (Kifissia etc.) that are super green and well connected to the centre.
@PatiTheTimelessTraveller
@PatiTheTimelessTraveller 2 ай бұрын
Yes, there are some quite a few nice northern suburbs. I am not sure how easy it is to find a rental apartment there, but some neighbourhoods are definitely worth considering. I will be honest with you, Kifissia wasn't my favourite, but of course it's a matter of taste. I would have to do a part 2 to include more areas. Maybe I will 😉

Hello Pati from Australia (Adelaide) . I have no intention of living in Greece, but I am visiting Athens and some of the islands in September/October, and I just love to watch your videos and your chat about a city you obviously love. (and it is charming to hear a bit of that English accent creep in to your conversation, making it so apparent that you lived there at some time). I was born in Brighton, but we emigrated here in 1970 (so I guess that tells you that I am an oldie, lol) I am spending a week with a mate and my English cousins in an apartment near Evangelismos metro station( from September 19). Hopefully we have chosen a good area to stay? We planned on eating out a lot. Have you eaten at Klimataria, Kati Allo , Ouzeri Lesvos or Diporto? I have been looking up recommended restaurants and they seem to come up in my searches often. It would be interesting to see if you have an opinion on any of them, or any other recommendations? My mate and I are also spending almost a week in both Naxos and Paros with a day visit to Delos and Mykonos. Also one to Aegina from Athens. we are so excited. It will be at the very end of our 9 week holiday (starting this Friday 16/08) after time in the U.K, Budapest, Prague and Amsterdam. We will finish with three more days in Athens (in an apartment near Akropolis metro), so hopefully we will get to know Athens well. Thanks for all your content. I regularly look forward to seeing it. cheers, and all the best, Mark

G'day (Kalimera) from a Greek Canadian. I grew up in Athens (Northern suburbs) but I'm familiar with the area of Evangelismos and specifically the near by area of Kolonaki. You chose well! Kolonaki is an upscale neighborhood and it is located on the southern slopes of Mount Lycabettus which you should definitely visit. The only area that I would stay away from is OMONIA square, that's it. Just do the "Walk About" to explore and enjoy the many parts of Athens. I recommend you guys buy tickets from a Athenian Tour Company which will walk you thru the many fascinating areas of Athens. Make sure to explore Athens' incredible historical sites like the Acropolis and the Parthenon, enjoy a stroll through Plaka, and relax in one of the city's vibrant cafes or tavernas. Don’t miss out on the lively nightlife and try some delicious Greek food. Have a great time!"

Data in analytics don't lie, you need to understand why the people connect with you and you will want to share content which would be more relevant to your audience. The more dedicated niche you develop, the faster your audience will grow. In the beginning you need to add different topics in order to understand what is more popular and what gap there is to fill in the market.
