I think that has a different name in Canada, Julian on Trailer Park Boys was always drinking them.... can't remember. Maybe not exactly the same, but pretty close, I think.

Have you tried any of the Korean beers? Like Cass? I am not recommending them. They aren't bad, but definitely that kind of reaction, 'it tastes like beer... nothing else really going on."

When I was stationed there, I had lots of OB, to the point where those of us with beer guts would get our stomachs tapped and called an OB Baby.

I didn't realise Candlemas was that late. That is around the same time as the end of the Lunar New Year. Is it related to the winter solstice? I think that is what Lunar New Year leads up to.

I am 75 years old and drink at least one 6 pack every day. It is not my favorite but it is cheap and it is beer. OF course the best thing about it is that it is beer.

I am 19 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. The only thing that keeps us indoors during cold weather is the rain. Otherwise, its time to burn! That said, in Winnipeg (or South Korea - I was stationed there for 2 years, so know), I can understand the doubt that a bonfire of sorts are possible. Mostly, we get cold, cold rain. Almost as bad as the flooding in '99 in South Korea (it was my unit's AHA that got washed away and caused... issues as war stock ammo kept turning up in the unlikeliest of places). You got me reminiscing - always a dangerous game! Stay warm!

Car Wars fan myself. I later converted to Autoduel when GURPS released but the game setting itself was one of my all-time favorites. I even recall an illustrated comic short story version of "why Johnny can't speed" almost 40 years back. I very much regret buying a large blue, raspberry slush earlier that morning or I would have still had enough to have bought that comic. Never saw it again. I don't even recall the name of the anthology-like comic that carried it. Wonderful choice. I am jealous. Truly.

I read this original story in Galaxie Magazine in the 70's. Remembered the name but not the author. I was surprised it was Alan Dean Foster one of my favorite authors from the 1970-'s
