How do you get that back vacuum line on the throttle to come loose

Hey so I’m looking at a 2012 that has 158k miles. The car is incredibly clean inside and out but I’m just not the most knowledgeable on maintenance to look out for… any tips??? It’s a whole different beast than the JDM scene I’ve owned my whole life. I’ve heard they burn a lot of oil, check the timing belts, the pulley, check the code history, etc. but if there’s something you can tell me to look out for that’s a HUGE red flag before buying that’d be great!! Thank you! Great video

03:00 - Go look at the Lexus SC300/400 Door hinges - one of the best designs for a 2-door vehicle with that issue - they actually pivot out so you do not have to open the door as far.... I'm sure there are other vehicles out there that attempt to solve the same issue... just not sure of 'em.

If you have rear parking sensors, you don't need a camera...or if you really need it, it can be installed, it's totally unnecessary for me and I have it lol If it's a parking lot with limited space...roll down the window and then get out, it's much easier. You can put sunglasses in the door, organize the space :) When you put the cover on the cup holder, you can put the phone there. I watched the entire clip... in reality, not a single thing is that important, it can be overcome... this looks to me like a woman who complains that she has nothing to wear and has a closet full of clothes :))) don't be a spoiled baby :)))

Ever had issue with the timing looking at getting a 2010 s4
@Brennan_Brooks10 ай бұрын
I have had no issues, That being said if you have excessive rattling on starts or while running id expect timing chains to be done asap. I basically daily my s4 but as the miles go up and the years go i could see letting the car sit for long periods of time potentially increase the odds of that service needing to be done.

I just sold my 2015 435, replaced it with an M2, but that 435 was such a great car! Not one thing broke on it in the whole 9 years I owned it, and still had its original brakes. Mine had a backup camera because I did a factory order and added it as an option, it was also a manual, which was the main reason for the factory order..almost impossible to find them on any dealers lot. Yea I agree with the cup holders but not a big deal for me, everything else about the car made up for it.

Congrats! Any of the 3.0T supercharged engines are better than the new ones w/the turbos that have engine rocker arm failures due design and not durable - look up vagtechnic which is based in UK and pointed it out on their KZbin channel. Your only issues are already stated by commentators below and by you. You just have to do your oil changes early, your supercharger & differential fluids and make sure the the certain part of the transmission that have the weak failing part was replaced (if not, you should).I for one have crec motor which eliminates the carbon build up issues. My advice, at least tune it to stage 1.All the best w/your S4!

I’ve heard the new turbo engines can make good power but I’d like to read about the rocker arm situation! Thanks! Thanks for the advice I’ll look into those! I appreciate that. I’ve been thinking about the O34 stage one tune, have you had any experience with that one or others you’d be willing to shed some light on?

Thank you for saving it, but yes, with your perspactive on it, look to sell it as there are track guys who know the handling prowess very well, and will appreciate getting there hands on one with a straight and cleaned up body/chassis, and will build it up right. It is not the many times more popular 911, and it is the boxy Porsche built by VW, with a cheap Porsche engine also built by VW. So it didn't have any takers, cause Kids dont care about it, middle aged and older guys probably didnt wanna Porsche chassis fail, as building Porsche is already very expensive, but what happens is, you start on a project, then realize there is a lot more work to do than you realize, as the tear down reveals half assed repairs, unseen rot, even a straightened chassis that is just done, or just over tweaked by to many hard miles. So with that in mind, it drew no interest. More over, these days when guys mess with 914's, they wanna go all Porsche, and that's very expensive🎉. Most in this day, are not looking to drop an American LS in a 70's light weight Porsche anymore. So if your gonna spend Porsche money, its gotta be a 911, or the 914 you build on has to be right from jump, no time to for fails, they cant get caught up with time and cost they didnt plan for, it aint worth it. Once you get the chassis/body sorted out, you will get offers, you wont have to complete it if you dont want to. Two things people will be looking for in a 914 is, a classic handling monster to play with till the market is ripe for it, or just looking to sit on it, till the market thing 🤷🏾♀️ For better definition for your sale, anybody looking to make it a weekend toy, or even a daily, will be looking to modify it and take advantage of mid ship handling, moreover Porsche chassis handling engineering. Guys over 50 are likely looking to resto mod it, putting a 3.6ltr air cooled 911 engine in it, shooting for a minimum of 350 to 400HP, possibly more. Then there is the period moder, hes looking to drop an even older 911 engine in it, shooting for a 914T concept, 200 to 220HP. Those numbers may seem small in this day, but we are talking about a 70's chassis built to a 1.6ltr engine, the 914 is less than 2000Lbs, and were talking about Porsche concept buyers, historical buyers and sellers, track lovers (circuit/road course) not street racers, not your typical 21st century fanzical persons who need a Japanese turbo monster or an American LS build.

I appreciate you taking the time to leave such a detailed comment! One of my coworkers is a big time VW bus / 914 / 911 guy. I kinda got lucky talking with him when I decided I was going to take on this project. He’s restored and owned a few 914’s/911’s and Buses, even worked on some 914-6’s. we’ve had lots of good conversation about this series I’m getting myself into haha. I am anticipating this becoming more than I expect it to be, I just hope I’ll be able to overcome those challenges. As of now, I’m hoping to keep it so my dad can enjoy it! It was something we were supposed to clean up when I was a kid, so I think it’d be really cool to get this back up and driving to enjoy it together

Where do you dump the used oil? Can I send it to a gas station to be recycled?
@Brennan_Brooks Жыл бұрын
Great question! I will dump the old oil back into the oil bottles I just used, and then I'll take it to a local oil changing business. I've established a relationship with the service advisor through a friend. I would think any place that does an Oil changing service would be able to dispose of your used oil properly. You may even be able to take it to your city recycling but I'd call first to see if they have an option.

hey man can I ask which car you liked better your s4 or 435i bc im looking to get a new car and i honestly cant decide between a s4 or a n55 so in terms of reliability and everything
@Brennan_Brooks Жыл бұрын
sorry for the late response! Thats a really good question... I love both of the cars, each in there own way. If my opinion is worth anything to you, I'd break down what your needs are and wants. if you want my blunt answer... The 435I hands down. I was very impressed with that car. personally I love the longer doors on a coupe, and I just think that M sport model (the one to get if you do) looks great. plus not to mention its newer. The straight 6cyl is super smooth and I would pick a turbo over a supercharger every time when it comes to having fun while driving the car. The BMW handled better and the twin scroll turbo came alive quickly. I sold mine with 65K miles on it due to going to Flight school... I cant tell you from experience how the reliability would be if it had 160K like my s4. But it's a proven motor and I'm sure if you took care of it and stayed on top of things it would be fine. In my 40K miles of owning it I had no issues. A few points to consider are, will having AWD benefit you where you live? do you have people in your car often? (4 doors) gas milage is kinda the same TBH haha. I would say maintenance could be more expensive with the BMW, Example just the front two rotors and pads on the BMW where $730 for the parts. I bought all for corners on the S4 for like $550. good news is there is a ton of support for both platforms and a lot of accessible parts and mods. Either way you go, you will definitely enjoy either one. I hope this was helpful bro! Good luck. if you make a purchase, let's hear about it!

@Brennan_Brooks Жыл бұрын
I have not done them, as of now there isn’t any major signs of them needing to be serviced. I have heard it’s a pretty intensive job, but I have done the water pump, thermostat, pcv and as long as you have a game plan, and some basic skill/knowledge you can accomplish it for sure. Took me about 14hrs lol but step by step was stright forward. I would assume with doing the right research and getting a plan (outside of the unforeseen things breaking or possibly needing replaced) it may take some time but would be doable.
@ioeonfn5551 Жыл бұрын
IMO, if you got the opportunity to buy one of these platforms.. just do it cuz it’s worth every penny. Got a B8.5 Audi S5 prestige with 85k miles and all previous owner work came directly from Audi locally, water pump, thermostat, timely oil changes and etc the list goes on. All tho B&O system isn’t too base heavy lucky for me the previous owner also did a great job setting up prewire equipment so I can just plug and play an amp and sub eventually even came with base knob. All in all great car I have a year warranty as well as 3 free oil changes from dealership and it was up 25.5k and I talked it down to 21.5k so I’d say I got a steal.. super rare to come across these platforms tho
@Brennan_Brooks Жыл бұрын
I think outside of the R8 the B8.5 S5 is the best looking/platform Audi has. Bold statement I know haha. I’ve owned a B7 RS4 and TT’s etc.. I remember test driving a 6 speed 2015 S5 and was so in love with everything it had to offer. At the time I couldn’t really afford a super clean one and the one I drove happened to be a rebuilt title… 💔 I still might seek one down one day. Sounds like you’ve got a sweet car!!

I really enjoy the car, try and get as much service information as you can. big things that these cars are know for (service wise) are the PCV, Water Pump, Thermostat, upper and lower control arms. and that car will be due for a carbon cleaning soon. honestly if you know your way around a little bit with working on cars. FCP Euro has a good video on doing the water pump/ thermostat yourself. (I did it myself) took me tow days lol I broke a bolt and found a crack in a coolant pipe which was why i was losing coolant. but i was already half way there so i just replaced the pump and thermostat. cost me like $270 and 7-9hrs. would never take that long if it wasn't my first time. you can do all of the things mentioned above yourself but i would probably pay for a carbon clean out of all of those services. overall very fun and solid car. it is a great engine and platform.
