Poor guy got pretty messed up from the crash but thankfully him and his son built the car safe. He is going to be alright, but sad to see someone getting hurt enjoying their passion in life.

Met him Monday at Orlando as he was getting in the car to leave, talked to us for a couple of minutes. The car/build was 4 months and 2 days old when he crashed.

These smaller nitro cars and the nostalgia nitro funny cars about the minimum I enjoy watching race since going to the north west nationals in Seattle, unless it’s a 170mph highway pull an it’s a vette or cat or Camaro or a built sleeper lika Honda or celica or some shit ion really care for it. Watched a higher level top fuel dragster break 320 miles per hour😂

Full cage,belly pan etc. Was a well build car,engine blew and knocked part of the belly pan off.

How was that the slowest safety crew! From the time he went over till the starting line 4 wheeler was past the 1/8 mile boxes was 20 seconds…. And that guy wasn’t the first one to the driver. The top end 4 wheeler got to the driver first…. I don’t understand all the ignorant comments. I saw it all with my own two eyes. I’m not a keyboard warrior, I actually saw it in person.

@@heyguysgarage1105 You are 110% correct. Drag Strips do not take safety response lightly. These people run towards cars as they are wrecking... no matter how big or small the accident. The safety crews at drag strips do their jobs very well and work to contain the situation. They're positioned at multiple places, so when you see the guy leaving the start line, you don't see the several people at the middle and end of the track. They also have to prevent pedestrians from interfering.... The safety crews deserve a lot of praise!

Here is the UPDATE FROM CALVIN COMMUNITY PAGE Nivlac57 7 hours ago Alright guys. I know everybody is asking. Dad is doing OK. His hip bone got bruised, His eyes are banged up (might have nerve damage), Broke a couple ribs, and his lung bruised, but he will be ok. They're going to keep an eye on him overnight. He's in good spirits though. Going to take a bit to get back to 100%. The safety equipment did it's job, and I'm very happy that we overbuilt the car safety wise. For a wreck where he was going 150+ mph and got close to 30 feet in the air it did it's job well. Cars be replaced, people can't. We'll be back!

Yeah he's ok Immediately the track ambulance rode down there (red) then 2 white local ambulances arrived. 1 of then took him to the hospital. Serious bruised hip, few broken ribs, some retina nerve damage and tons of aches and pains. He's ok, his son posted in our fb group that he's gonna be ok The whole crowd cheered and clapped when the announcer made that announcement. Definitely the worst wreck I've ever seen in person. I'm Sick Ward 2022 and 2023 and was parked on the fence in the pits around the 120ft Saw and smelled it but wish I hadnt

Uninformed comment…. Most tracks respond 4 wheelers first because they’re more nimble and quicker. The 4 wheeler from the starting line wasn’t the 1st 4 wheeler on scene. Top end 4 wheeler was to the driver and the car was still on fire. Was probably a 15-20 second response time to the driver. I saw it with my own 2 eyes in person.

I was there at the 120ft mark on the fence on his lane The fireball was huge the video doesn't do it justice at all. The entire Sick Ward bleachers went crazy I've never seen so many men jump up at once and have to talk themselves down from running down there

Poor Calvin's dad. They have both put a ton of work into that car, it was incredible to watch the father and son work together. I can't imagine how Calvin feels when he saw this. Everybody stay positive for the Nivlac57 family and crew

I'm Sick Ward 2022 and 2023 Was a scary wreck to see in person. From the fence you could not see the car once it let loose, only smoke But you COULD see the smoke flipping, rolling and realized that smoke was still coming from the car as it flipped When it landed on its end it burst into frames The video doesn't do it justice it was a huge fireball that thankfully went out
