In the early 1970s, when I was at school, the Beetle was known as Hitler's Revenge, Pregnant Pastie, Pregnant Rollerskate. The Mexican built Beetle was called Montezuma's Revenge.

The disclaimer didn't say anything about playing pee wee punch LOL! My grandpa cheated at that game, used to pick me up from grade school scoped out parking lots and then drove back through giving me a slug bug beat down. For a long time I thought I was bad at that game until he confessed 😂 he was German and loved beetles had 2 one for him and one for grandma & also a big collection of miniatures

Wonderful telling of a long story. Bought my first used Beetle in 1972 and my second 1972 Super Beetle in 2019; not needing restoration because it was in storage in Germany for something like 39 years. It has the equivalent of 33,000 miles on the clock.

What you're doing is inspiring, I have been watching your KZbin channel videos for the past few days, It seems like the video you have published is not SEO-friendly, so you're not getting enough views. KZbin SEO and promotion are key for growth these days. Using high search volume and low competition keywords in the video title and description is important, as this will make your video easier to find and rank faster due to less competition. I run an SEO company, and it sounds like I could help you to grow your KZbin Channel. I can do a free KZbin SEO audit for your channel if you'd like. This will allow us to see how to further improve your content's search engine optimization and increase your videos' views. My team and I will be happy to join you on this journey. If you have time, we can set up a short discussion so that we can talk about this in more detail. I am excited about your channel to grow! Best regards Ismail hossain. Hitler delivered the specs of the car to Porsche. Porsche completed the car as per Hitler's specs. A car to carry a family in comfort air cooled so it wouln't freeze in the winter etc. Had nothing to do with Jesef Ganz. Why allow thee J oo s to highjack and take credit for the VW? From wiki. The influence of Ganz on the design of the Volkswagen Beetle is a matter of dispute

Hmm. Ignoring the work of Hans Ledwinka of Tatra Motors's (Czechoslovakia) is a little bit remiss, I must say. The most crucial of the Beetle's design elements were hallmarks of Ledwinka's designs, first born out in the Tatra 87. The rear engine, air cooling, backbone construction, torsion bar suspension... all Ledwinka! Tatra initiated lawsuits against Ferdinand Porsche and VW prior to the war. It is reported that Porsche approached Adolf Hitler regarding this "problem". Upon hearing Porsche's concerns, Hitler supposedly responded by saying something along the lines of, "Don't worry, it's a small problem, it will go away". Weeks later, Hitler's forces invaded Czechoslovakia. Post war, Tatra was awarded one million Deutschmarks as compensation. As much as I'm a VW fan (I've owned several and travelled to the museum), there is no doubt that Porsche and Hitler were "inspired" by Ledwinka's designs.

Tomorrow im picking up a 1963 baja bug 1600cc im so excited just for the nostalgia as a kid watching my uncle build a number of them and sanpacers(meyers manx) he was also a successful race car driver in class 1 offroad buggies and his engine was a very powerful vw that scared the shit out of me when it revved up when he retired from racing he had it made road legal one of my best memories was when my father borrowed it and dropped me to school and on the way we detoured thru the local akarana golfcourse watching my father giving the finger to bemused golf enthusiasts shouting ya rich pricks! as we jumped over the banks tearing up the fairway then arriving at school my dad revving the guts out of it to attract all the kids who were now climbing on the fence to look at who was in the CRC sponsored buggy me taking my helmet off knowing Im king for a day as i watched my dad drifting out of the carpark who was that? just my old man🤭 growing up in New Zealand in the 1980s vws were so common that on roadtrips my dad invented a game called motorbikes and Vdubs where whoever was first to spot and call out vdub or motorbike would get a point also police were worth an extra point lol sadly not the same game these days. everyone worldwide has a story or memory involving this iconic car. Love that.

My first car bought in 1976 was a light blue 1960 beetle with 1100cc engine. Top speed 69 miles per hour. took the crash bars off one day and the top speed increased to 72 mph! Cost $80! registered. No gas gage, one sunvisor - for the driver. sometime later, my Mom told me when I was a toddler, my parents owned a light blue 1960 beetle! And that when travelling she would put me behind the rear seat and I would sleep 'like a baby'. Go figure.

It’s great and I know that it’s driven by his passion. It’s just hard to overlook the fact he had so much money that even the most important car people in Italy were at his beck and call. Somehow I think there’s a lot more money in real estate than car production.

The original TDI diesel from the 1990s was an honest engine that passed emissions test legitimately, but in 2006, VW was forced to take it off the market in the U.S. because Detroit got the U.S. government to tighten federal emissions standards -not out of concern for the environment but out of fear of competition. Then, in 2009, VW introduced the new and improved "Clean Diesel" TDI, and I suppose we should have known something was wrong when VW claimed that it found a way to meet new U.S. emissions standards in three short years.

This is a great documentary. I had a 1972 Super Beetle for five years, and I would have had it longer if the floor hadn't rotted away. It may still very well be the best car I've ever had. I'm now on my third Volkswagen, a 2012 Golf (the second was a 2000 Golf, my first new car) and I am just as into the water-cooled VWs as the air-cooled ones. I just adopted two kittens, and I call them my four-legged babies, but the 2012 Golf, like the Super Beetle and the 2000 Golf before it, is my four-WHEELED baby.
