I listened to JJ Cale before “discovering” Clapton and I feel that the student despite his great talent never reached the level of the master: JJ Cale!

He is very good. However Roy Clark would do this with a twelve-string. Too bad there are no Flamenco dancers.

@@markpiersall9815 I've heard his version and it's very nice in a Roy Clark pseudo flamenco kind of way, but that's about it.

What a lack of passion. Mechanically played. Horrible.

not the best played version of the song ive seen, but this version has the most soul to it.
@rafaelsodre_eachdayАй бұрын
Not in a thousand years it has soul to it. The guy plays it mechanically, without any passion. Here is a good - an excellent - rendition: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIurcqyuiLh2nsk

This is actually IS the greatest; while he played it faster and better as a young man, here it is played slower and more deliberately due to his arthritis.The version from his youth can be found elsewhere. He transposed the music as a young man to be plalye on guitar, he will always be the greatest guitarist to play the piece.

@@rafaelsodre_eachdayoh, you’re serious. I really laughed out loud at your other comment, I thought you were trolling. I hope my life never gets sad enough where I’m spending my day talking shit on long dead masters, trying to convince people the performance they like is soulless 😂
@@rafaelsodre_eachday you cannot possibly be serious. these E strikes got on my ocd. timing is almost robotic. flat dynamics. sorry man but no. i saw you above criticising the most soulful version ever. segovia performed the song. he didn't simply play it. Wish you a good life my man.
