I loved a lot of stuff from the 90s, but the Avengers from the mid 90s was not my thing, i ldid iked the hero return era but i was not hooked yet, but I finally became a hardcore fan in the Bendis era, I loved his work on that serie. I also have to say one of my all time favorite runs are West Coast Avengers and Thunderbolts

Good review. 👌 I disagree with you on this 😂 I actually enjoyed this period of Avengers. Proctor was truly mad because his activities could have unravelled the multiverse. I also enjoyed when the Black Knight travelled to the Ultraverse and led Ultraforce. The Ultraforce/Avengers crossover was superb too. We had Thor crossover into the Ultraverse too in the GODWHEEL mini series. Continuity was also tight because I remember Captain America struggling because his Super Soldier serum was breaking down but he didn't tell anyone in the Avengers which was revealed in the Captain America book. I also enjoyed the return of the restored Avengers Mansion at the end of the Procter saga ( although I did hate THE CROSSING that came after lol 😆)

I'm mostly liked his run but the art work I felt very unsettling. I'm not sure if there is a single artist I like from this run. Maybe it was just the style they had to follow and it's not their fault, in that case, I still didn't care for it. I hated how long Jean stayed gone for too, but that wasn't really his fault. The next writer could have fixed that.

In the DC/Marvel spin off series Ultimate Accsess we see Accsess involved with Jonah Hex being transported to the future in a time storm. I think Hickman had a sprawling plan, they (Hickman and Marvel) began to work on plans for X-Men shortly after Secret Wars ended (2015) they spent three years planning X-Men, which launched in 2019. My theory is that the political nature of where Hickman was going to take X-Men was going to be too volatile for Marvel during 2020 which was when they began to nerf him off X-men and replace him with Dugan.

Good review. These X-Men books are absent from my collection at the moment. Moses Magnum. ???? I remember him. There was a Punisher story with him and Spider-Man (I think??) Set in Ethiopia . I am sure there was a Deathlok (Michael Collins) story with him in the 90's. I haven't seen him since.

Thanks for posting. 👌👍 love these. I forgot about the original POWER MAN. The Comic Book Report has some great reviews on Silver Age Avengers comics. These are so much fun. Roy Thomas was a great replacement for Stan Lee .I have most of this era in Essentials b+w editions

There was a lot in this era that I didn't really jive with. They made some weird choices...

I liked how Hickman built everything up and gave us a tone of new and interesting chatacters, but it lost direction on a story level pretty quickly

@cavotiscomics3423 I think the comics are badly edited. There is nobody taking notes on continuity. Hopefully one day Jonathan Hickman will write a What If? series which completes the HOX POX story as he originally intended before he was pushed of the X books.

X-Factor was more light hearted, and straight forward good guy. As opposed to X-Men's often morally grey attitude.

Yeah you are right but also had better characterization, each memeber had more personality
