She ruined it for herself when she brought feminism into it. She stole so many hearts up until that point. She should have been a national heroine really, spoilt it for herself. Silly girl

Bloody idiot saying that there's racism in the sport with the men, She may have fluked this, but has slaughtered MANY rides before, Akazalia was one, It was a joke of a ride, disgraceful, the reason why people don't put her on often is because she isn't that good of a rider, I've seen it make more mistakes than any other jockeys... ever, I would soon put on a apprentice on my horses before I would put a mistake ridden woman on like her. but instead of saying the truth she blames the men, she's shagged more jockeys than she has rode winners, They all end up pissing it off. they say Shelly GET STUFFED!!!

The fact that people actually care about what set of genitals the winning jockey possesses really shows how downhill the Melbourne Cup has fallen in recent years. I guess horse racing is yet just another Australia Sport nowadays plagued by political correctness.

Wow we love you Michelle, for women everywhere. You are the bravest, sweetest soul! I have heard, too, that for the first time in Australian history, more women (60%) are taking up the horribly dangerous sport of horse racing. Know I could never have done it myself. Your bravery and humility are so inspiring. Ride on!

Typical female her very clever trainer used a second rate female jockey on a 100/1 long shot to get handicappers to give a very generous weight allowance then the dream a barrier draw not a great jockey or win just dumb luck on the day her retarded brother could have won under those conditions.

This win is a bit like a fairy tale turned reality. It's always good to see optimism emerge out of misfortune. Congratulations to the Payne family.

+MultiPhillyphilly Michelle Payne is a classless bogan that talks like an 8yr old. The fact they shine a spotlight on her as an example of a "strong, independent, empowered women" is embarrassing. If that's the best female athlete Melbourne has to offer, then it's very sad. I'm pretty sure the Melbourne Cup is a HORSE RACE, not a jockey race. She was hired to ride the fast horse, which she beat half to death, just like the rest of the field of midget-men. In the same month that Holly Holm achieved something no man or woman has achieved before, why has Michelle Payne even received more than five seconds of fame? As a woman and a Melbournian myself, I'm embarrassed to be represented by her.

1201Filmz it takes a very weak person to try and break down someone else’s well deserved accomplishments. It’s not about being the VERY best, you muppet. It’s about acknowledging women’s capabilities, in addition to overcoming prejudices, specifically because of her gender. Against ALL ODDS, literally, this woman continues to be brave and believe in herself and uplift other women, especially in her field. If you’re embarrassed to be repped by Michelle as a woman, let’s hear about your accomplishments, and what you can offer us, in the way of being a successful and supportive role model. 👂 *crickets* Back to your cave, critic...
