I'm from Lewisburg. I remember back in the 80s taking my father to his VA hospital appointments in Beckley. Very scary when that road is slick! One time we stayed overnight before heading home.

Driving with the sun at your back(heading west=morning) could improve the video.

totally agree! I sometimes I have to go the other way :) and sometimes when I have to go ... let's say, south and east... i'll take a more southernly route in the morning and then head east later in the day. It just doesn't always work out.

Perhaps someone has done this. looking to take 64 west from hiawassee ga to tennessee. This video appears the drive is somewhat low hills and not a bad drive. Is 64 going to tennessee mountaneous. Thinking of flying into Chattaneuga and driving to Blue Ridge to avoid Atlanta airport. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks Frank

5:47 Between Austin and San Antonio, I-35 takes a turn southwest through some grassy plains, separated from the Texas Hill Country and the seaside plains of the Gulf of Mexico. Along the part between San Marcos and New Braunfels, I-35 takes an extremely hilly dance through parts of the Balcones Fault Zone.

The ~80-mile stretch of I-35 between Austin and San Antonio is indeed my favorite stretch of I-35 in Texas. I lived in Kyle, located just outside of Austin, when I was between eight and 14 years of age.

I wonder if they will move US 19 to the GA 400 extension to Cleveland completely by-passing Dahlonega?
After watching this video, I went to Vegas, rented a Buick Enclave and drove the canyon road. It was a great day and the conditions were the same as the video. Had to get out and move a few big rocks a couple of times. I relatively easy but slow drive through the passes. Got passed by a 4x4 jeep going the wrong way. He probably thought I was nuts in that Buick. The Ranger at the Valley station asked me how I got there. I told him Titus Canyon Road. He asked me, "In that??".

This looks like the beginning phase of interstate 11, as the way you went was the original way to Hoover Dam and Phoenix, of course now going through Boulder City and the Dam is bypassed by interstate 11 and the Pat Tillman Bridge!

We moved from Hampton, VA to Oak Hill, WV in the summer of ‘77. We would make a trips to WV (then later to VA) each year, so we had the “joy” of taking that 45 minute drive through Fayette Station to get to my grandparents’ house. We also got to see the progress of the bridge as it was being built. I don’t know what happened to the pics, my grandfather would park on the south side of the gorge and watch them work. He had a photo album with a ton of pics. We still get up there once a year to see my in laws and I try to get over to the gorge and play tourist. Another fun ride in the gorge is McKendree road from Thurmond to Prince. I’ve done that a few times and it never disappoints. Lady I heard a couple years ago, there were sections that were impassable from washouts.
