Retired ministers would most likely not have a lot of cash to spend on a property. Their salaries are miniscule, and once retired, they have to vacate their home, as it is part of the diocese, how on earth would they be able to afford to own or even rent a property in the UK? It's no wonder Ken wants to move to Cyprus. Thanks for the upload.

People don’t realize that Cyprus is not a tropical island! It’s a sub-desert! It gets freezing cold in the winter months Jan-April especially at night! And extremely hot in summer June- Oct !

We live in this area and prices have shot up since this was filmed. You can still get an apartment for 140k but a lot more for a house. Questions to ask. DOES IT HAVE TITLE DEEDS. IS THE VIEW IN FRONT OF MY APARTMENT GREEN LAND OR CAN THEY BUILD ON IT? WHO IS THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY FOR THE COMPLEX.
@nancyn347

And what are the monthly maintenance fees? (I like your point about the empty lot in front of properties. Rarely do the buyers ask if it can be developed or not.)
@charlisays
@charlisays 5 ай бұрын
@@nancyn347 monthly maintenance fees are legally based on the square footage of your apartment and balcony so if you have a penthouse you will be paying more than others. They range from 30 Euros a month up to 200 Euros a month. Yes- so important to do the research- there are many buyers here who still dont have title deeds or buildings in bad condition because there is no maintenance company.

Very nice and honorable man. That 3rd property was the obvious choice. It had nice views, wasn't overlooked, was bright and spacious, had an ensuite bathroom as well, and was the biggest kitchen out of all.

If a person wants to marry let them marry. A Roman Catholic priest came up with this rule that priests are not allowed to marry, not God.

@@alicemoller and the reason for the rule was so that the church would claim the first-born son's inheritance. No wife, no worries about where the money goes.

weird 3000 diff. and they went 105,000 for the 2nd property ... lol...then it got worst .. they went up 2500 on the 2nd property to 107,000 but they could not go to 103,000 for the 1st property WHATEVER lol .. the way they think is ?????

I agree. It was a bit odd. I think that they focused entirely on the first offer of house #5 being 103k, even though it hadn't been accepted. Just because it's offered doesn't mean it's what it sold for. And I think they were a bit irked that the seller of property #2 refused to budge on the price.

The compare/agent was really great. He was confident, working hard for the buyers and had really good negotiation skills. He was also endearing and fun. I think he is the best I have seen. Well done. Nice couple too, and special attachment to the region is nice too.

Top tip. Don't buy in the Turkish occupied North of the island. Anything built post 1974 is probably on STOLEN land. you will NEVER get legal title. Otherwise the lady is right, trust nobody. It's a minefield..

After living in a Mediterranean country for the past 40 years, I have learned to love floor tiles. The heat, humidity and dust will make having a wood floor very high maintenance. Besides, the tile will be cooler underfoot. Your house looks lovely and I can't wit to see it landscaped and with the windows, etc.

I wouldn't install a reddish wood as many people do not like so much of a red tint - go with a lighter wood like ash bamboo. Much more flexible in decorating and eco-friendly. The current tile is too shiny on the floor and there's so much of it.

Thank you for a very useful, concise guide to what to expect when buying property in Cyprus. I was/am heading to Cyprus next month for two weeks and was going to assess purchasing a property. Whilst quite savvy regarding the ways of the world, I didn't want to end up being seen as a naive pushover. I would be interested to know whether you have advanced your own purchase plans and how you are getting on on that front?

We recently nearly fell into this trap in Portugal where the estate agent ( British Company) insisted that this was the way you funded a new build by paying 80% upfront to the builder but if anything happened to the builder ie went bankrupt, fell ill, passed away, you would not own that property and would lose all that money. It was only because our lawyer in Portugal made us aware that we pulled out before any contact was signed. We did have to put up with a few weeks of harassment from the estate agents for pulling out. We have since found out from Portuguese friends that no you do not pay upfront if the the builder is reputable. We had such a close call.
