Why don’t they just hit the ball? They throw it right at him every time. It’s not like the ball gets thrown away from him.

RIP Tim Wakefield. I met a friend of his outside a funeral and he ended up meeting me family and giving us tickets to Fenway where I got to meet a few of the players and wear his ring. He was an unbelievable kind man, and so were those he spent time around. I am sure he is resting easy.

There are a lot of pitchers that could be on this video but one I really think you should not have missed is Steve Carlton's slider.

Way back when I played college ball I couldn’t rap my head around hitting a curve ball or a change up , I could hit them or even nick them but couldn’t get a solid hit on them I,d foul them out . Everything else I could hit knuckle balls , sliders , fast balls etc , I even went as far as asking one of are pitchers on the team if he would help me with the problem , we even went into are batting cage but he would either strike me out or I would foul out every time , it’s all about timing & placement of the bat , I just couldn’t hit them .

Rookie Kerry Wood had a hook that was virtually unhittable. Sure, it probably contributed to blowing his elbow out, but damn, was it pretty.

I think cricket is a bit more nasty, especially when the ball hits the pitch and cracks, the swing. Different elements to it. But there is something beautiful about seeing guys pitch and make the ball move that way without touching the ground, no doubt
