When the mind and the senses are constantly engaged in listening to Bhagavatham, engaged in enjoying the Divine Leelas, then automatically the worldly sensory pleasures will have no hold or pull on us. Om Namo Bhagavathe Sri Vasudevaaya

Om Namo Bhagavathe Vasudevaaya Rukmini Devi being the Jiva who does not want to be tied to worldly attachments, in the personification of Sishupala, being saved by The Lord Himself. Jarasandha's death at the hands of Bhima - The Consciousness's attachment to the body. These inner meanings have been very nicely touched upon. It helps bring the attention of the mind back to the Supreme Consciousness. 🙏🏼.

Thankyou. Listening to this episode, the term 'Blind Attachment' is so aptly described as being the reason for all the calamities, giving rise to this maha kavyam. But more essentially, how a parent can bring the downfall on to his whole clan and himself, by forgetting his responsibility of Parental duties.

I must say that you have developed a unique style of story telling which is based on the calm rendition of events, irrespective of their nature. It keeps the listener glued to the narrative until the end. In other words, even as Bhagavatam is unfolding in your narration, it is impacting both the listener and the narrator. Stay blessed!

The optical illusion of concentric circles spreading outwards from a point in the middle makes one feel that the innermost circle is at the bottom as well as at the top. When it is at the bottom, it is within and when it is at the top it is outside. Such is the nature of Maya. You have beautifully explained the distinction between mahamaya and yogamaya . Very enlightening!

Thankyou Suresh. In an earlier chapter, it was mentioned about the scriptures having a lot of words, if I am not mistaken, and it is not necessary to know the meaning of wach and everything. Knowing Vasudeva with love and bhakthi alone is enough. Here again, you have quoted Krishna telling Arjuna the very same, in the Bhagavad Gita. It is the Supreme's love for us, that the ignorant and the jnani are the same. And one can reach him easily through love and devotion, easily than logical pursuits, where there is a chance of being caught in it's trap. . !
@sureshn137 күн бұрын
Yes it is emphasized again and again in Bhagavatam that the jugglery of words and concepts can only entrap us. It is the simple loving surrender to Krishna that is the direct way to realize here and now. This is the essence of Damodara Lila's symbolism too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIKygWZ6ot2fabs

It’s so blissful to listen to you explaining Bhagavatam particularly for those like me who don’t have your in-depth capability to understand it in Sanskrit. The wisdom contained here is sovereign truth itself. It’s indeed our good fortune to have been born in Bharat which has produced such emancipatory wisdom.

The description of how Maya is part of The Supreme Being causing the rise of 'I' and 'Mine' was explained nicely. Sri Ramana says give up 'I' and 'Mine' and in one stroke you give up everything and can attain Self Realization. The parallel in Bhakti Marg is striking. If by intense devotion one understands that Everything is Him, then automatically 'I' and 'Mine' will dissolve and one can understand the statement that Bhakti and Gnana ultimately leads to the same goal. Sarvam Vasudeva Mayam!

The Virata Rupa, with it's fearsome form, described here and as well as in Bhagavatgita, making us FEAR and then turning this into Love for Bhagavan. . I think this FEAR, arises from the fact of the Impermanence or the Maya and the attachment of the Ego, especially to all objects impermanent, foremost the body and the senses. And then when this veil drops, Love springs forth.
@sureshn1311 күн бұрын
Yes indeed. A conscious fear of impermanence and death of self and relations/possessions is the beginning of wisdom. And it leads to inquiry and surrender that makes it mature into Love which leads to fearlessness (abhaya).

Beautiful exposition of the need for complete surrender to the Divine. It is indeed enlightening to see how our ancient scriptures have a way out for all kinds of people to discover the truth of their being: if yoga relies on withdrawal of senses Bhakti engages the senses in a way that has the same desired outcome as yoga has. This is indeed the beauty of Sanatan Dharma. It is not strait jacketed.
@sureshn1311 күн бұрын
Yes the great beauty is the detailed guidance on both the state and the process of realizing it for all temperaments. Also bhakti is integral to all processes including yoga. As you may know, Patanjali's yoga sutras defines the highest of 5 niyamas as 'ishwara pranidhana' or total surrender to God.

Beautiful. This chapter is truly philosophical steering attention away from the phenomenal to the eternal. Speaking of Aum as the representation of the Brahman, Japji Saheb begins with the phrase, “ Ik Aumkar Sat Naam…”, emphasising the fact that the only true name of the Lord of this Creation is Aumkar, suggesting that all other names are given by man and hence various differing from one culture to another. Analogies as you rightly mention are useful for communicative purpose and should not be stretched beyond that point. Elegantly produced

After hearing, I was pondering on the opposites of the four pillars of Dharma and how they cripple Dharma the Bull. It seems to be the exact order of the day that we see all around us. A whirlpool, where it is so tricky not to be sucked into. Yet, once again, the simplest and sweetest Lifeboat to steer away is Pure Love for Bhagavan and His name.

Very true, simplest and surest way is loving devotion and surrender to Hari.

And The narration of Mother Earth about all those divine qualities in Krishna, which were innate in all humans, absent now. 😟. Yet again, one CAN attain or cultivate those qualities by going to the root from where they arise. . That is simple PURE AWARENESS. 🙏🏼
@sureshn1316 күн бұрын
The divine qualities are innate but covered up because of the dirt of the mind. So we don't have to cultivate or attain even, just need to remove the dirt that covers the clean mirror. That's what Bhagavatam helps by simply listening. The root is the impersonal pure awareness and the whole tree is the personal form of the Supreme Being.
@meenaramana16 күн бұрын
Thankyou For many years always wondered when it was spoken of - In Kaliyuga, ' 'Dharma' is like a crippled Bull with only one good leg. Your narration today cleared this for me. . The 4 legs of Dharma - * Tapas/ Austerity * Shaucha/ Cleanliness * Daya/Compassion * Sathya/ Truth. And we are seeing exactly that happening all around us, today!
@sureshn1316 күн бұрын
Yes what Bhagavatam tells us is to be the light of Dharma by restoring the 4 legs of Dharma within us fully first!

The story of Kali is highly evocative of the manner in which people in Kali Yuga have abjured Dharma and exploited Mother Earth out of their insatiable greed.
@ravidhar628316 күн бұрын
The representation of Dharma as the Bull, Rishabha, is illuminating, particularly the description of each of his four legs. Truly, when Dharma suffers a decline, it manifests in disorder, a glaring instance of which is the ecological disorder brought about by the greed of man. It is interesting to see how Bhagavatam anticipates the present lot of man.

The story of Maya, as recalled by Arjuna, shows how it is very essential to one's own good to bridle one's skills and talents, veering them away from merely, senselessly and mindlessly gratifying one's senses, but using them for good causes and deeds alone. Especially being conscious of the Divine.

Beautifully explained and timely too. It’s time we moved away from exclusive perspectives to all inclusive experiences of truth. Besides, howsoever appealing impersonal truth may be intellectually we need to realise that this too is a mentalised version of truth. We need to remember that Truth defies all mentalised versions and forms. It is always one step ahead of what the highest flight of the mind can perceive. Mystic experiences attest to the validity of your interpretation. Even Baba Nanak says, “Kar kar vekhey sirjanhaar/ Nanak sachey ki saachi kar”. A free translation of this Supreme Vani would read as: The Supreme Creator looks on as He creates ever new forms/ Says Nanak if the Good Lord is True then how can his creation not be so.
@sureshn1321 күн бұрын
Nicely put. Impersonal truth as a mental understanding is limited. Truth is in all forms and all that is formless. Krishna says in Gita, 'I am pure Self, I am Time, I am manifesting with birth and activities'. All are His truth. He alone is.
