The external pump is waterproof. The electronics box is resistant, but not submersible. I have switch to the their larger 4000gph w/ uv light. I recommend that unit if in your budget.

The mesh looks dirty used a pressure washer to proper clean it because it can cause t a restriction with water flow

As the sludge output dumps a fair bit of water as well, doesn't the overall system lose water all the time? Meaning you have to top up the pond all the time?
@studrew1
@studrew1 5 ай бұрын
Yes, the amount of water is lost depends on how dirty it is. Intially i lost a decent amount, but barely notice it now since its pretty clean. I do have an autofill.

I'm working on my tank. Just curious how you ran the pipe inside the tank? I have the outside part connected with the adapter and reducer. Just can't figure out how you attached the inside pipe. Thank you!

I shaved down the stopper on the inside and forced a single pipe all the way through to the other side

Great design. Simple and effective! Thanks! Only one special thing I noticed here: The outlet must be at a lower level so that the waste water can come out by itself.

Nice, but how to you clean the filter system? I found that to be the most tedious part of koi-keeping.
@studrew1
@studrew1 2 жыл бұрын
I've added a T-valve between the pump and first barrel that allows me to easily backwash the first two barrels by siphon. Takes about 5 minutes to do. I'll make a video if interested...

Hi great video. Do i still air pump in the pond if fI already have good oxygen supply in my sump tank ?
@studrew1
@studrew1 3 жыл бұрын
It's better for the koi, but you don't have to if there is plenty of water splashing arounnd. I only have an aerator in the moving bed, but koi were fine even without it.

@@emmakekelele I think a venturi is great. No moving parts means no maintenance and nothing to break. I am also considering it since I have extra pump flow. Will make a video when I do.
