I love the lore behind pagan altar when they were making their original recordings in 82. Apparently they were recording in a supposedly cursed place, in a haunted house built on a church ground and at a crossroad, near the site of a supposed witch burning. Supposedly their bass player at the time was scared shitless because he saw the full apparition of a woman dressed in black who vanished through the floor late one night when he was alone in studio and he only wanted to record during the day from then on. Terry saw a woman dressed in black, but the only woman in the house was locked in her room at the time. And supposedly when the original vocal lines of this track was being recorded, they could hear a female voice in the background harmonizing with Terry’s voice when they were making the rough mix of the song. I don’t even know how true all of that is, but that piece of lore makes it even more legendary to me

One of my early 90's purchases that turned me into a European power metal fanatic.
Opinions are like assholes . But pagan altar or iron maiden have to be with top top three in my list of metal bands. If I have to argue with somebody about korn or something . I know the fools just dint know

Silently lyrics- When I open up the door and I step into a floor See me running down the way To another place I'll stay In this room there is a door From another endless floor So I walk it 'til the end Am coming back where I began Then I fall into a dream Within a dream within a dream Of the murder from "the silence of the lambs" Silently deeply creep in my heart and soul Silently deeply creep all my love has gone In my private picture dome After 1000 days alone I am meeting depardieu And he asked me here to stay An ambiguous sequel in many ways Concerning my own situation The translation "de son nom" Implies that all the gods are gone And I'm falling into the scenes Inside my movie gathering Living timeless in a "casket irony" here Silently 1, 2, 3 see the hours flow Siently 39, 40 nights ago Silently days and weeks slowly counting by Not a second not the years Reign our measured time Silently deeply creep in my heart and soul Silently deeply creep under skin and bones Say why minutes take one life But years run out of hands Here I play "capture time" try to understand Silently deeply creep in my heart and soul Silently deeply creep all my love has gone

The vocal harmonies in the choruses are so good! Really though, the whole song is amazing... one of my favorites by Vanden Plas for sure. I mean, so much attention to detail. The synth in the first verse for example just feels so perfect to me. Great arrangement and orchestration throughout. 👍

We're surrounded, there's no escape Landed on a world, attacked by gods who sent a storm Now the waters rise so unbelievably And vulcans spit a holy fire and destroy Spit it and destroy We traveled through the time To spread the human seed Wherever we've been seen We disappeared in mystery We came to see how people fight The Gods who sent eternal night We're the last We came to late to stop the stream of time Can it be a lack of pride, a lack of honor Can it be a plan that is divine Can in be a lack of pride, a lack of honor Can this be mistakes that are divine Welcome Reborn in another dimension Where unknown colors and noises are bringin' you tension Welcome Step through the halls of disaster Work till you bleed and obey your invisible master Missin' the moon in the night Finding yourself for a world of violet light Welcome home from the dust of ages Welcome home from the dust of time We don't know if we'll leave some traces The world that we've known disappears In the dust of time The world will end with surrender The civilization's destroyed And all things we know will disappear in the end We live in a mystery world Welcome home from the dust of ages Welcome home from the dust of time We don't know if we'll leave some traces The world that we've known disappears In the dust of time Atlantis was an island, so the story's told Where the Gods melted fire with a storm Atlantis was a garden, so beautiful divine Where mankind has been given its first home So beautiful divine
