That's nothing, the elevator in Johnny Mnemonic when he was in Beijing went up about 15 floors in 2 seconds, equal to about 30m/second. Get back to me when we can do that.

I’m my opinion, the beeping is symbolic of the floor pass chime in regular elevators and the designers probably knew that since this elevator is going by a lot of floors very quickly having it beep every time it passes a floor its probably gonna annoy a lot of people so they just decided to do this instead and add lights
