This film seems to be quite heavily manipulated. We don't see the details of the arrangement of the impacts, but a few patterns can be detected. Firstly - the Volvo hits the rear of other cars most often, and these are the weakest points of each car. Secondly, the impact occurs AFTER the front of the Volvo has been LIFTED on a small approach ramp, as a result of which it hits the glass sections of other cars, which causes such a terrifying destructive effect. I wonder what would happen if these were front-to-front collisions - and from the same level, without lifting the Volvo's wheels so that it literally drives onto all those demolished cars. It's a shame to mention these tricks involving hitting unnaturally vertical wrecks - cars positioned like that can be knocked over with a solid kick - so these are exceptionally weak tricks. I'm writing this with great sentiment for the Volvo 850, because I've owned such a model (2.5 tdi) for over 10 years and it has never let me down seriously, even on very long and demanding mountain routes and in a very hot climate. Another thing is that such an old car needs to be looked after - so many systems and components have already been replaced or regenerated (injection pump, steering rack, turbo, cooling and air conditioning system, exhaust). These are good cars, with a very nice classic, timelessly elegant line, quite richly equipped with many useful "gadgets" (heated and electrically adjustable mirrors, cruise control, air conditioning), comfortable and relatively simple in design and repair, which makes them predictable and almost reliable for an experienced driver. But there is no point in creating myths about them either. I am afraid that in a really well-conducted crash test (front), the results could be not very interesting - especially with today's structures with very streamlined shapes, in which - as in the case of arches (since ancient construction), the strength of the structure increases, and the process of their crushing in controlled zones allows to suppress the energy released during impacts, while protecting the driver and passenger space. Regardless of the fact that they are indisputably more durable (in the sense of lower failure rate and better quality of all systems) compared to today's shitty plastic engines, which after 200 thousand kilometers are only fit for the trash - along with equally shitty accessories (turbines, pumps with their computers, gearboxes, etc.) - however, structurally (even if made of worse and more susceptible to corrosion steel), they are designed on safer principles - these streamlined shapes, devoid of straight lines and right angles, increase the coherence of the structure, and if you add to this controlled crumple zones to absorb impact energy, the result must be better.

Why mom had the exact car imported from Japan in dark blue with alpine rims mechanics in England didn’t know how to fix the engine so the car was sold and it probably was this car in the video since it was about this time
