Detonation. Something was causing the charge to begin burning before the spark plug fired. That's almost always the case when you have a whole in the top of your piston.

Photo footage of outboard races is nearly always shot by well-meaning but unskilled amateurs. But the footage here is surprisingly good, with very steady panning that follows the action smoothly.

This sure brings back memories,the last time I raced was on this lake in 1965,ASH Mercury KG4 engine with a Bendix magneto,quicksilver lower unit, McDonald boat out of Portland,Ore. I was just a kid that had a lot of fun although I wasn’t a very successful racer. We even raced on Green Lake in Seattle back in the day. APBA/SOA . I guess I’ll go back to sleep in my chair and reminisce.

Depends on if you want a vintage or modern engine, how much you weight and how fast you want to go. Any 8hp -15hp two stroke with a standard lower unit should give you a smooth ride like this video. Always install a kill switch. kzbin.info/www/bejne/epKmYaB9pNWYZrs I'm liking my 8hp Yamaha two stroke on non-racing small craft. 58 pounds.

What are they pulling off of the motor when they launch?
@slowstartfast21624 жыл бұрын
The silver two cylinder Yamato outboards pull start with a rope, the rope does not rewind back into the motor. The loud 4 cylinder Mercury outboards, some teams have a battery powered starter motor that they place on top of the flywheel and then detach once it's running.
