I think he in retrospect would have been a better speaker than Bercow proved to be, and while Bercow had his moments I think his ego and his lack of subtlety with dealing with the government hurt his legacy. I may not have agreed with Brexit but I will say that Bercow was not as impartial as he liked to think he was.

I'm a labour supporter but Nigel Evans was a good speaker.. I think Lindsay Hoyle is a bit too weak. Nigel would stomp on any infraction where and they would get a rollicking evidenced here. But Lindsay just warns them it's a different style which needed especially during Boris, Truss and Sunak period better chance to keep order and trust.
