I'm not sure you've looked into this subject in depth? At least it doesn't seem that way. But you're ignoring most of what the Bible has to say on this subject. Yes God freed the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt. God is consistent throughout the Pentateuch that He does not want His chosen people to be slaves after that. Thus the laws you referenced in Leviticus 25:39-41. This is the indentured servitude you mentioned. But that was only for the Hebrews, and God had different laws for foreigners. If you had kept readying just four more verses, you'll see the laws God laid out in verses 44-46; "As for your male and female slaves whom you may have: you may buy male and female slaves from among the nations that are around you. You may also buy from among the strangers who sojourn with you and their clans that are with you, who have been born in your land, and they may be you property. You may bequeath them to you sons after you to inherit as a possession forever. You may make slaves of them, but over your brothers the people of Israel you shall not rule, one over another ruthlessly" THIS is the actual lifelong chattel slavery that is in fact condoned in the Bible. So to your civil laws you mentioned, this say that "If you want to own slaves, then they can't be your fellow Hebrews. They have to be Gentiles". So I don't know why you said that it was never intended to be lifelong. The Bible literally says that foreign slaves were owned "forever" and passed down as an inheritance. It appears you're confusing indentured servitude in the Bible with actual lifelong chattel slavery in the Bible? Because chattel slavery is not some sort of employer/employee relationship as you stated. At all
