35:00 the first time I heard it was at an assembly. The whole place was on their feet praising God. The Holy Spirit just completely filled the room! It was an awesome experience that I will never forget!

Some information about this: “Amid the controversy, the quartet flew to New York to record a song for a motion picture soundtrack. On March 30, 1955, they recorded “A Man Called Peter”, title song of the 20th Century Fox picture about a renowned US Senate chaplain Peter Marshall. Richard Todd played the title role in the picture, supported by Jean Peters playing Marshall’s wife Catherine. The Statesmen returned to New York in April to sing for the film’s premiere.” This is taken from “Happy Rhythm: A Biography of Hovie Lister and & The Statesmen”. The page also includes a photo of the Statesmen with Richard Todd, while Lister and Todd both hold The Statesmen Quartet’s record “A Man Called Peter”. The lineup that recorded this track were as follows: Hovie Lister (piano), James Wetherington (Bass), Doy Ott (baritone), Jake Hess (second tenor / lead), Denver Crumpler (first tenor). Feel free to add this information and excerpt to the description.

Thanks for archiving this! This was one of the first albums I remember my family getting as a cassette tape. My parents had a lot of the older gospel groups on albums, but in the 80's cassettes were the new thing...

Hi, Steve! Is there a way to get a digital copy of this? My late grandfather, Roger Allen, started this group with his roommate at Anderson University, Bill Gaither, and I would love to share it with my family--including Roger's wife! Thanks so much!

Absolutely love this album! A pretty amazing experimental album concept. Four channels. 1 and 4 for the big band. 2 and 3 for Buddy on his studio organ. Thanks for digitizing this one Steve! Where on earth did you get such a clean copy of this LP. 🤔😉
