Very nicely done, Scott. I've recently begun an online course with Spanish artist Fernando Moya. He seems to have a similar approach to you in this type of painting. He loves using Neutral Tint, he pretty much mixes it with everything. My first two projects on the course involved this simplified approach, being focused on tonal value and creating atmosphere. It really works well, as does your stunning example here. Subscribed in a flash!

One of these days I'll get back to making content, currently I've been away from the paints. :-(

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I'm starting my watercolour journey and I'm still struggling with the basics but I saved this for the future. I'm impressed with your vision for this painting. There are so many layers on it and you paint so confidently. Such a beautiful painting, congratulations!

I dont understand how you can add light highlights onto dark paint like The roof. I can do that with acrylic but not water color

It’s Gouache which is a transparent type of water based paint, it’s usually considered cheating in water color painting but I make my own rules.

You really didn't give us any information as far as the grey color and technique of the weatherd barn or how you get the grass technique.

Its so easy to overpaint in watercolor. I’m trying to overcome that tendency too. Nevertheless the painting is lovely.

This is a fantastic video, very informative. I think I’ve watched all of your videos a few times now, I really like your style which seems to be straight to the point with a focus on values and shapes and the results speak for themselves, really nice landscapes 👏👏👏 I see it’s been a while since you posted a video, hope you are doing well and would love to see you post some more. You’re also pleasant to listen to so you could grow your channel significantly by regular uploads if that’s something you’re interested in of course. Thanks for sharing what you have so far and all the best 👍

Thanks John. I do intend to get back to painting, life happens and things get derailed. I also have another channel that is actually my main KZbin focus. If you are a gardener check out Black Gumbo Southern Gardening. With 170K subs, it tends to get priority. But I will be back to painting for sure. I even bought some lights to improve my production value.

I think this was cheap Canson paper, its been a while and I don't recall. My favorite is Arches cold pressed fine grain (the green cover).
