Thrilled I found your channel! I grow in SE SD, Zone 5a. I do taste test videos too. I did 40 last year, this year I am hoping to do 50 taste tests, but I will have 80 varieties growing overall. Some repeats of my favorites...Hillbilly! Love to see other people discover it. Aunt Ruby's German Green is another favorite of mine. My favorite small tomato is Pink Tiger. Also do some tomato breeding. I tried Paul Robeson three times and it was not a good tomato for me. Oh well, more for everyone else, right? I'll definitely check out your other videos.

I've been watching a lot of videos lately about tomatoes where people presented and tasted them. And in each one, I was amazed at how they could eat tomatoes without seasoning them. I can't imagine eating a tomato without adding salt.
@sulnday5 ай бұрын
Agree, but they will all say “ they’re so good i don’t need to season them or they wanted to taste them without anything added…” nah Salt objectively makes them better. Lol

@GardenJargon9 ай бұрын
Yellows and oranges are the most flavorful in my opinion. Except for the yellow delight.. I cannot remember if we tasted it in this video. It was yellow but very very acidic... It was a seed I got in an exchange.. It tasted like a red tomato but it was yellow.. And that was about the size of a racquetball.. very prolific but yellow, meaty, and tasted like a red tomato...

Do you buy your PVC as straight poles or is it already bent when you get it? Could you provide a link? My fencing is sagging.
@GardenJargon11 ай бұрын
I buy PVC pipe from Home Depot. I always buy 10 ft pieces because they're cheaper if you buy them that long. I don't even think that they manufacture them longer. They are super easy to bend. I use them two ways. I use them after I pound a 2 ft piece of rebar in the ground and make sure that the PVC can fit over the rebar. I have used wooden dowels in the ground but find that they rot and disintegrate quicker than rebar pieces would so now I purchase pieces of rebar before I would try to using a dowel. I also use the PVC pipe and wedge it between two pieces of you post or t-post and zip tie it or use wire to secure it. The PVC pipe that I purchased from Home Depot I believe is 1 in. I think they measure the size of the hole not how wide the entire pieces. It's been a while since I purchased it because I have found people to donate it to me so I can't remember how big it was. If you need to support something extremely heavy, in an art trellis, I would use cattle panels and turn them into arched trellises.. or you can get a conduit bender and bend conduit instead of the PVC.. You're most welcome to email me at [email protected] if you have any more questions. I'm happy to help and I appreciate your view on my channel..
@IAMGiftbearer11 ай бұрын
It's looking great! I and an aid are trying to do an arch trellis and boy is it alot harder than I thought! I didn't realize that welded wire was so much floppier than cattle panel! The area I'm fencing in is about 9 feet ling X 6 feet wide and I'm finding that the wire sags in the middle where it's supposed to arch. Can you provide a link to the PVC that you used for yours? I may need to get some so that my trellis won't be a big fail. I had no idea that you could bend it like that!
@tomichelled9 ай бұрын
This is why I used the PVC as a brace every 4ish feet. I use 1/2 inch 10' PVC pipe from home Depot. You can use electrical conduit also. But you have to build something of a brace to bend it.
@tomichelled9 ай бұрын
And thank you for your view. And sorry for the delay in my reply.
@IAMGiftbearer9 ай бұрын
@@tomichelled I looked at Home Depot and they have all sorts of different PVC pipes. Could you provide a link to the one that will bends. Not all types do. Some are rigid and I don't want to get the wrong kind.

I just lost a bunch of tomatoes from the rain. 😭 Even the ones that didn’t split lost a lot of their sweetness, they taste more acidic than before.
@GardenJargon11 ай бұрын
That's not good. I know rain does change the flavor of tomatoes big time. But leaving them in the hot hot sun can get them to bump up in their sugars but if it's already ripe, you might not get that opportunity. I'm sorry that happened.
