Yup, she got preggers like her Mom and off to the mines she goes to work/die just like her Mother before her. That's the lyric/song.

This song came out my senior year in high school. I had all but forgot about it over the years. Except for one small spark. I sat down with a sheet of paper and made notes of what I knew, or thought I knew. Using the internet, it took me about an hour to track it down. The Addresi Brothers were quite successful.

A haunting song. I vaguely remember it from when I was a kid. What she says toward the end, that there's nothing for her regardless of where the bus goes, very dark.

This song charted only up to 90 on the US Billboard, but it got a lot of play time in Dallas that summer. I loved it.

Every summer all the kids in my family had to spend a few weeks in the country with my grandparents. We spent the majority of time outdoors, playing and swimming in their spring fed pond, only coming in for meals, and at night were tortured with Laurence Welk. LOL. Also watched a lot of Gunsmoke too. I remember playing a lot of card and board games at that time, most likely to distract us from Welk. Boy, those were the days.

Mom and Dad would watch Lawrence Welk and we only had one TV, so my sister and I would have to watch it if we were home, and Calcutta was the only song that I enjoyed and still request (Hey Google) today.
