Uncle Jet I've found that the tip of hobby knives is a good way to use small amounts of glue too, uses caliper action.

I like to use the plastic putty for weld beads. The small tip applicator makes it easier to fill the seams, let it sit for about 30 minutes and use some home made weld bead tools to get the texture.
@JETScaleModelsКүн бұрын
That’s a great approach! Using plastic putty with the small tip applicator definitely gives you better control, especially for those finer seams. Letting it sit for 30 minutes sounds just right for getting the perfect consistency for texturing. Homemade weld bead tools are a brilliant idea, too-nothing beats custom tools for achieving the exact effect you’re after. What do you typically use to make your weld bead tools?

Great video, the camo looks great. I’m leaning towards one of the units in and around Falaise in July and August.
@markoldreiveКүн бұрын
I went over a few areas again this afternoon. Your comments on how they dared in Normandy. I read a report that stated as the noose around Falaise was tightening and finally closed, statistically the Puma crews dared much better than their tanks. Survival rates in the Puma were higher and put it down to the Puma crews expertise in camouflage and moving around undetected behind enemy lines. One Puma crew member commented that the Americans in their M8 Greyhounds would roar around at speed and everyone could hear them coming. The Pumas would creep along at idle on the engine making as little noise as possible and stopping to hide and listen frequently. Another fun little insight, the Puma is also available from Das Werk in 1/16 scale as is the M8 Greyhound from AHHQ/Takom. The same artist created the box art for both vehicles and, on the Das Werk art, the picture shows a Puma with a knocked out M8. On the AHHQ/Takom the M8 is shown with a knocked out Puma.

😂 love the story narration, like an old shool movie. Man youre an enjoyable creator Uncle Jet! You sound like a narrator from old ww2 shows, is this where i know your voice?
@JETScaleModelsКүн бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m really glad you’re enjoying the narration and the old-school vibe-it’s a style I love leaning into. Being compared to those classic WWII show narrators is a huge compliment! As for my voice, maybe I just have one of those familiar tones, or perhaps you’ve caught one of my videos before. Either way, I’m honored you think so highly of it. Thanks for sticking around, and I hope you keep enjoying the content!

Nice video, I know what you mean about metal fatigue on etch. On unpainted etch material I now anneal it carefully with a tea candle. This makes it more tolerant of bending back and forth and removes its memory. Re the lights, for tiny CA applications I use acupuncture needles only a 1/4 millimetre wide, but a long length to get deep into a kit if necessary and you can bend it to reach behind parts. The springs on the other end can be useful as well.
@JETScaleModels2 күн бұрын
Thank you for the kind comment and for sharing your techniques! Annealing photo-etch with a tea candle is a great idea; it’s amazing how much easier it is to work with after removing that "memory." The tip about acupuncture needles for applying CA is brilliant-such a simple yet effective tool, especially with their flexibility for those hard-to-reach spots. I hadn’t considered the utility of the spring on the other end either; that’s a clever bonus! Thanks again for sharing these ideas-they’re the kind of tips that really improve the building process. Cheers!

The plug you put in the pistol ports? That should only be there if the tank is rigged for snorkeling. Otherwise, it is stored elsewhere. 👍
@JETScaleModels3 күн бұрын
While their main purpose was for wading, they could also have been employed to keep out inclement weather, dust, or debris in adverse conditions if needed. However, under normal operating conditions, the ports would typically remain unplugged to allow the crew quick access to use personal firearms or eject spent shell casings. The inclusion of these plugs reflects the design priorities of the Tiger I during its early production stages, emphasizing versatility for a range of combat environments.

I accidentally due to lack of coffee, deleted a comment from chelsieboy? That the pistol port on the right side is offset to the right but should be to the left. Sorry about that 😊 from Bydens site”This "left offset" is confirmed by almost every relevant photograph. The only exception is Tiger "100" when captured by the Russians, but it is obvious that the Russians disassembled that particular port, so we can assume it was originally like all the other ones.”
@JETScaleModels8 күн бұрын
You know what’s really funny is I went to go and look at some stuff on David info tiger site in site and apparently somebody at Dragon had the same thought as I did. Here’s a quote. “Unfortunately, somebody at Dragon assumed this was a mistake! Later issues of the 'A' sprue had a modified seat that faced forward. Some of these sprues were sold in Initial Tiger boxes. They also appeared in the first samples of the Late Tiger kit.”😂

There's something very odd/unsettling about sitting a vehicle backwards, is there not! You bet you know this already, Scalemates= Search =Rye Field Tiger 1 W/interior= instructions download. I find the site a great research tool with their download instructions/illustrations sheets. I've never built any Tiger Tanks, I'm bit tempted by the Rye Field Tiger 1 RM-003 or RM-5075 Moscow park display tank..hmmm🤔
