I just watched this video/listened to the song for the first time in WELL over a decade. And yet I knew EVERY SINGLE WORD WITHOUT FAIL. Sam you really should feel proud of this song 15 years later that you made that much an impact on 16 year old me that I had this song fully internalized.

This was my song for my ex before I had my first and only child with him, never knew one day I wouldn’t be with him and raising the child alone. Bittersweet

I'm an early 2000's kid, so growing up I caught the latter end of this amazing youtube era. Where all the videos felt so personal and recorded purely out of the human spirit, not motivated by money (maybe a little bit of wanting to go viral). I'm sure it's still going on nowadays, but much harder to come across. Perhaps it's just me looking back with rose-colored lenses, but I really think the coming of the digital age brought out the best in us; it seems to have become taken for granted and seen only as another tool now, generally speaking. Amazing find.

I'm very sad I missed this phase of the internet. I was only 2 years old when this released, but that doesn't stop me from preferring this song over any type of new music.

Insane how somebody filming on their toaster 15 years ago sounds much better than the "professional cover" dreck today.

After years i rediscovered this song again. I was 9 when i first heard this song, being a huge fan of Mario, im 20 now, still a huge fan. Its making me so emotional to think how im in such a diffrent place now in life and then hearing this song from when i was 9 and everything was still so simple

I scrolled down through the comments to find my 13 year old comment about how talented you are. All these years later - I've gotten married and become a father. I learned guitar to play and sing this for my son. I sing this to him every night before he sleeps. It's just a lovely song. Thank you for putting everlasting joy out there in the world with your music, Sam. Hope you are well!
