I used #10601 (amzn.to/2y2YIvG) I would print out the template guide and check your stock specifically. I have bell and carlson alaskan stocks for remington 700 long actions.

Great video! Would you say the Montana decoy was the reason you would have had a shot? Or was it just the right place to be?

In this particular instance, the big buck was locked down with a doe. I think the decoy helped the doe feel more at ease and stayed around my tree longer. I had multiple shots at this deer but chose to let him walk due to the mismatch of his rack. I have had several encounters with the MT Decoy where they brought the deer in for a shot no question.

@@johncooperoutdoors You chose to pass on a deer because, if it’s mismatched antlers. Is there some law where you live that you can’t take a deer with mismatched antlers? Otherwise, that’s just plain ridiculous. You can’t eat antlers. Must be nice to pick and choose. We don’t have that kind of option where I’m at. You take what you can get and we don’t care if it has antlers, just if we have an antlerless deer permit.

It's so stupid that they glue these on, and mine appears to have been painted after it was installed. I want to take mine off to put a pound or two of Devcon 10110 in that cavity. Looks like I can't do that without also destroying the butt pad and risking the paint.

You will most likely destroy the existing pad. i did. and as you see I also took a chip out of the fiberglass stock as well with the chisel that I had to fill with epoxy. I should've added a couple of pounds as well, that .338 RUM kicks like a mule! I like the limbsaver pads better though, so it was worth the struggle to get a little better recoil padding.

.338 RUM definitely could use the weight, and a brake! Mine would be for a 7mm Rem Mag that I am getting a brake on. I contacted B&C just now, maybe they can remove it for me since they are near me, then I could fill it and reinstall it.

Yeah, i should brake it...but I'd rather take a shoulder beating than an ear beating. 250gr accubond at 3,050 fps kicks at both ends! Hopefully BC will take care of you. good luck!

The factory recoil pads on HS precision stocks really suck, been trying to figure out a way to get the pad off without damaging the stock. Thanks for the video.

Thanks!!!! Glue????? why would they do that!!!!! I was going to paint my stock lastnight. Tried to remove the butpad......NOT happening!!! I guess I'll just mask it off. Why they would glue it on makes no sense to me. Thanks for the vid!!
