I remember running down that beach when the waves were hitting the wall and I couldn't see the stairs. I was the only kid to finish the race, Mr. Todd grabbed me when I ran into the new changing rooms and held me under the hot shower. He was in classroom clothes blazer, shirt and tie, but he didn't care, all he was concerned about was warming me up. I had blue lips, I couldn't feel my arms for the elbow to my finger tips, all I could say is I won the race. Mr. Todd had called everyone in due to a sudden change in the weather, but I was just out of earshot and kept running. Nobody realised until every was back showered and changed. I'd never seen Mr. Todd worried or scared of anything. Up u till that day I hated him, he called me "Wing Wong" as I played on the wing 1st year prep school for the year above as my year didn't have a team. I wanted to play nine so bad, but the nine on this team was also the captain and knew the game better than anyone. Think he was the only kid in the whole prep school that knew all the rules and cricket too. I'll finish this later I've a phone call to make. Hesketh!

Don’t know what today’s developers/ entrepreneurs tried to create at , The Bay Holiday Village, but the missed the plot by a country mile, it’s a horrible place, characterless modern day houses, won’t call them homes, you wouldn’t have a clue your on Yorkshire’s stunning east coast. Billy Butlin would be aghast n turning in his grave !!! Work takes me there, so I speak from the heart on this one……

There is something magical about the Isle of Man that keeps me going back there. Maybe it's because of family holidays there when I was a child. Been nany places abroad but the IOM has got to be my favourite place.

Russell, that was truly amazing. That video would win any award in my book. Is the Tourist Board aware of this, or your local travel agents? If not, they should be made aware of this masterpiece and perhaps given an offer to license it for promotional purposes. Very well done. My single criticism is the lack of a shot showing the outside view of the catamaran, I wasn’t aware that catamarans could be used as a car ferry, amazing.
@brinders Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind comments, Art. Unfortunately, there was no opportunity to photograph or video either ferry at Heysham, Douglas or Liverpool. As for the catamaran, I understand that it was originally built in Australia for military use but was subsequently sold and converted for civilian use. Many years ago we travelled to Dublin from Holyhead by catamaran ferry, but as foot passengers. like the Manannan, it took cars too. That was operated by Stena. I believe Irish Ferries have a similar ship (the Dublin Swift).

It is, Art. There was supposed to be a demonstration of ice carving in St. Sampson's Square, but no sign of any while we were there. There's a similar exhibition of ice carving in Lytham tomorrow. This is just down the road from us, so if the weather is kind, we intend to go there also.
