Good video! Are these tires any faster rolling than a ASSEGAI? I’m currently running Assegai’s front and back, and just can’t stand how dog slow they are
@BackwoodsBlakeMTB9 күн бұрын
They for sure are faster rolling. How much I’m not sure I’ve only run Assegai in the front. I’d say the tread pattern shorter on the side lugs than the assegai and the compound feels stiffer than an assegai which makes for a faster feeling roll. The assegai grip is insane but yeah I agree it feels almost too tacky and slow.

I use device resolve now but use to use iMovie before! Device resolve has been nice you get so much editing tools I don’t think I’ve even scratched the surface on all of it.

Nice bike w a smart spec. I like my Deore brakes on my 2023 Rocky Instinct C30. I have been running SRAM brakes for years simply bc they came spec'd on my past bikes. I have to give Shimano the edge. Going to XT brakes will save a few grams but not change the performance much. Happy trails and enjoy the new bike.
@BackwoodsBlakeMTB4 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yeah I’ve really been enjoying the deore brakes I wish they had a little more modulation but know you sometimes lose the bite. I have sram on my winter fat bike so haven’t used them at high speeds but I’d say I agree the edge for sure goes to Shimano. Thanks for the tip on the XT’s and thank you for watching the vid! Happy trails to you as well!
@johndef50753 ай бұрын
@BackwoodsBlakeMTB i have 2 bikes. I with Deore brakes and one with xt 4 pistons. The Deore is a nice brake but like you I think it could use more modulation. The XT is noticeably better. Way more modulation and power. And none of the supposed wandering bite point. Nice and firm. Best brakes Ive ever used easily. Using organic pads on both for comparison.
@BackwoodsBlakeMTB3 ай бұрын
@@johndef5075 thank you for the incite!!! I’m leaning towards trying the Hayes dominions down the road here but will keep this in mind of the XT’s! I know a lot of people that have been stoked on them!
@petedog95813 ай бұрын
@@johndef5075 Yes. I have not been on Shimano brakes for awhile. I forgot XTs have the lever mods on them when the Deores do not. My Stumpjumper has SRAM G2 brakes and they have more modulation but always felt ambiguous when they would firm up and bite. Neither are expensive brakes, but I prefer the Shimanos.

Great frame and super nice wheel set. I have i35mm rims and always use CushCore. IMHO it’s a must for having a set up to push your bike to its limits. My friend bought that same frame. I will do a review of his set up soon. As for Shimano brakes and drive. I think that’s solid. If I were to go with higher end brakes then I would go Hayes or Hope.
@BackwoodsBlakeMTB4 ай бұрын
Hey thank you!!!! I wrestled for about two days trying to get a Vitorria airliner in the rear rim. Ended up braking a tire lever! I gave up haha and will risk it for now. I agree with you though having a liner is nice especially for cornering giving the tire alittle more sidewall strength. So far I’ve been happy with these 35mm rims with a 2.4 DD tires seems pretty solid but might need to pick up Cush core down the road. Ive heard great things about the Hayes and they look clean I might need to give them a shot. Thanks for the suggestion!
@hardmtnbiker4 ай бұрын
@@BackwoodsBlakeMTB after installing tire inserts a few times you will find your technique. Wider tires are a bit easier. 2.4” is a tight fit, perhaps an XC CushCore or something similar from other brands. I use CushCore and Rimpact but want to try the new Victoria inserts
@BackwoodsBlakeMTB4 ай бұрын
@hardmtnbiker that’s a great idea to try the XC ones. I had the airliner in my hardtail for a year I loved it! Works like a charm and saved me many times.

So nice! I've just fitted the PNW Range bars on my Marino hardtail and they are incredible. It's crazy how much of a difference a couple of degrees backsweep makes, and they are great at damping trail chatter. I think you've spent money in all the right places here. Absolutely nothing wrong with Deore and SLX parts, it's all good shit
@BackwoodsBlakeMTB4 ай бұрын
@adammoonface Thanks dude! The range bars are so nice you are spot on it is crazy what a change in back sweep does! Im happy with where I spent most of the money I think brakes I’d like to upgrade down the road but yeah deore and SLX are grizzled and Shimano has made some nice updates where needed. Thanks for watching!

I like most of this trail system but it is rutted and sandy in some spots. That gap jump I've never attempted because it's always overgrown and you really need to pedal to clear it properly. The area is a little sketch too. Didn't know about the breakins. I usually park at the recreation center. Seems like the safest bet, but not positive.
