@SugarQueenEva3 ай бұрын
Wafer paper is edible paper, but not rice paper. They use it for edible printing that you can place on the cake. Hope this helps

Can i add gold dust to the Mixture to get that deep gold? Or do i paint it after when its cooked?
@SugarQueenEva3 ай бұрын
yes you can. I tried to add it, but it turned to brown color and it lost some of the shine. But you can add some more gold dust color afterwards. In powder.

gelatin has unpleasant smell:). You can use fish gelatin (it doesn't smell that bad) or /and add some nice smelling aroma extract.

It’s easy to pasteurise an egg in its shell using a Sous Vide Cooker which maintains a selected water temperature. A large egg can be pasteurised when heated to 135F/57C for 1.25 to 2hrs.

Wonderfully recipe, however, my mixture dries out too fast and i am forced to apply the mixture on rapidly for it to set. It becomes a messy situation. I stay in Johannesburg, South Africa and its currently winter. Its dry here. Should i add another teaspoon of glycerine? I am also using 70% dark chocolate. Its a wonderful recipe, but i just wish it wouldn't dry out so fast. I need time to spread over my mat.
@amandanowlin43794 ай бұрын
I have the same problem... it's ironic that the only comment I've found pertaining to it drying REALLY fast, is posted 2 hours before I start looking to the comments! It helps to know I'm not the only one this happened to! I hope there's a remedy. I would love to use this recipe for Lace, but as soon as it hits the mat, it's almost unspreadable. It seems to stay pliable, but will not spread evenly, if at all. I feel like I've heated it hot enough. Maybe not? I thank both of you for the recipe, and for the comment for trouble shooting and solidarity hahaha😊

@@amandanowlin4379 maybe we should rather melt the chocolate in a heat proof bowl over a pot of simmering hot water rather than microwave it? I'll try it on Friday and will repost. It's a really good recipe but starts to solidify too fast.
@amandanowlin43794 ай бұрын
@Wesley-gk4gd that's actually the method I tried. (Over simmering water) I didn't trust myself to pull it "just before boiling" from the microwave. Haha I agree, I'm a fan of the recipe, but personally, I can't get it onto the mat, then spread it thin or evenly. I'm getting really thick patterns that aren't even the entire pattern. Tgey definitely aren't lace! I feel like I'm working as fast as possible, for me anyway. I tried a couple of times, it was almost like there wasn't enough water? I don't know, I'm no expert haha maybe warm the mat first? So it isn't such a drastic temperature change? I just don't know.
@Wesley-gk4gd4 ай бұрын
@@amandanowlin4379 maybe let's add another teaspoon of glycerine? That may help with keeping the mixture liquid for a bit longer. Alternatively, maybe a teaspoon of corn syrup?

1 cup should be 250ml everywhere, which makes 4 cups in one metric Liter. It also makes it easy to mark out 1 cup, 1/2 cup, 1/4 cup etc. in a container, using water and a scale. 1 cup is 250g of water.
